If I recall correctly, the first Ghost Rider movie also set an opening weekend record.

I think it makes a lot of sense for it to be roughly TOS era. They’ll probably set it far enough away that they can put their own spin on the costumes and sets (note the difference in those elements between the two pilots and the original series), but close enough that people who are primarily fans of the new movies

How did the Conan people do such a good job with the look of the Original Series, the Desilu logo and everything, and then completely miss what the Klingons looked like during the Original Series?

Between Days of Future Past and Apocalypse, Evan Peters’ Quicksilver has swiftly established himself as a cornerstone of the X-Men movie universe.

That reference works on two levels, when you consider that Nathan Fillion played a parody of Bibleman on James Gunn’s “Super.”

I like the idea of Shipp as Barry’s dad, and I like the idea of Shipp as Jay Garrick, but doing them both in the same show just suggests to me a profound lack of foresight on the part of the creative team. I imagine the conversation going something like this:

“We should give John Wesley Shipp some kind of legacy role

the promise of the real Jay Garrick Flash and guess who he looks like!!?

...hence the complete lack of anyone mentioning the fact that hundreds of people with alien DNA and superpowers have suddenly appeared across the planet in Civil War

The idea that maybe these movies would make more money if they took the advice of the guy who understands the character and the medium from which all these movies spawned never even occurs to them.

No, it’s because being able to transport across the whole galaxy makes things too easy. Alternately, it creates situations where the characters will have to forget about transwarp beaming to prevent things from becoming too easy (just like the magic resurrection blood).

They could’ve just said, “you’ll have to wait and see the movie” like everyone else does, instead of directly lying about it.

Sue Storm: So this is my scene? I just look pensively at a lot of computer monitors to find Reed?

You forgot this one:

Yes, it is much weirder than that.

Is there any update to this? Did CMP ever turn over the evidence, were there any legal repercussions at all, or did they manage to squirm out of it?

Now playing

In MoS there are a dozen iconic shots of Superman. Can we say that about any Marvel superhero film?

It looks like a different take on Luthor

I think the two best Luthors came from TV. John Shea was pretty much the only redeeming factor of Lois & Clark, and John Glover was a perfect Luthor, even if his first name wasn’t Lex.

Are you fucking kidding me with that Luthor performance? You’re playing LEX LUTHOR, Eisenberg, not the goddamn Joker.

And don’t forget, Sean Maher also made a guest appearance as an actor named Sean Maher, who was a star of a show called Firefly, that led to a movie called Serenity.
