I think to some extent the bizarreness of comics books comes *from* the world changing with superhumans as a part of it.

Honestly, you didn’t really miss much. It was very much a generic TV drama that vaguely gestured towards superheroes and comics as a concept. It felt fresh and compelling at the time, but genre TV has gotten much more *confident* since.

There’s a pretty common attitude that all manner of atrocities - murder, torture, rape, even war and genocide - are fine as long as they happen to the “deserving”.

Sometimes you see a headline you wouldn’t have randomly predicted, but that also comes as absolutely no surprise.
