It was better than Ahsoka at least.

I'd watch the hell out of a Solo sequel.

Everything about the subsequent seasons was also better than Rise of Skywalker.

The Illuminati massacre was great, but it was also identical to the X-Force gag in Deadpool 2.

The zombie Strange stuff was the highlight to be sure, but there was also a touch of Evil Dead to Wanda’s possession scene.

It’s cynical. The obfuscation, as the article puts it, is there to make the audience as broad as possible, in the hopes of cashing in on those who sincerely believe Jones’ bullshit as well as those who just think it’s funny.

That’s how they get you.

Read again, the line was “before your parents knew how to make you”, implying they were in single-digits and years away from having children themselves.

They were listing commercial performance in response specifically to the idea of “fatigue”. Also, the “performant” ones they listed - Loki S2 and GotG 3 - were excellent and had a good critical reception too.

I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make here. Are you suggesting my remark was hypocritical because someone else was trolling you?

I think the media landscape has grown so much now that there aren’t really universal” touchstones like there maybe used to be. Whatever this generation’s Animal House is, plenty of people won’t bother with it and won’t feel like they’re missing out.

Maybe check how you phrased it, because “before your parents even knew how to make you” implies they were in single digits at the time and most definitely should not have been birthing children.

For the remark to work, they’d need to be born since 2006 or so, unless there’s darker connotations implied.

This. Someone who was a child in the 90s would be in their 30s now; either John thinks the readers here are all in single digits or he didn’t think that quip through.

I think that was hamfisted sarcasm.

I’m looking forward to it. Rebooting the same handful of A-list characters over and over got old decades ago; and Black Widow had a pretty fun supporting cast.

Even while the franchise was firing on all cylinders, writers were noting that the stronger entries were carrying the weaker ones, and the whole was greater than the sum of its parts. Pretending it’s gone from consistently good (it wasn’t) to consistently bad (it isn’t) is the same sort of trashy punditry we see in

The snark around here used to be funny and incisive, but after years of brain drain we’re left with the odious performative aloofness that defines articles like this one. As others are putting it, it’s just snark for snark’s sake, and it’s just tiresome.

Yep. All a creator has to do is say/produce something crass, provocative or suspect, say “whoopsie-doodle I hope I don’t get cancelled”, and the uncritical reactionary market will rally round them.

Oho! Hopefully this’ll lead to a change in their policy, it’s nuts that I have PS4 controllers that work better on the goddamn Switch than on any Sony console.
