I could see this as a horror-comedy about a young man who spends all his time being just ever-so-slightly annoyed by all the things that are expected to terrify us in modern-day horror.

+1 I saw it with my 8 year-old son, who is huge into Pokémon right now, and I was surprised at how well the CGI was done, I mean seriously better than some recent big budget “tentpole” movies. The acting and writing were also definitely superior to what I was expecting from a live-action Pokémon story.

I wouldn’t call it tedious, but I did find it ironic given the self-congratulatory remarks from the film makers earlier this year about all the strong female characters in the movie.

A contributing factor to this not being talked about more is that, if it came out in 1990, I’m pretty sure the Disney Channel was still strictly a “premium” channel at the time, so a smaller share of kids saw than would have if it had been included in basic cable packages.

That’s for the screenwriters to handle and the fans to figure out. And that’s been true of everything he’s done since Alias and Lost.

Are you sure that they’re Trandoshans? The snout on the one on the left doesn’t seem pronounced enough and to me they’re lacking the “horns” at the top of the head.
