This was already on my radar, and those same 3 seconds made me even more excited for this. It’s helping reassure me that the movie isn’t sanding down too many of the comic’s edges.

God, Nimona is the worst. I love her so much.
Though it should be noted that Season 2 is not based on the sequel outline that Neil and Terry worked on together. Neil said that that will be the basis of (the currently only hypothetical) Season 3, and Season 2 is all-new material to bridge the gap between that and the original.
Wait, what did Sasha Calle do? I haven’t heard about any accusations or arrests for her, and Google is coming up empty.
The Aristocats is one that I think would actually benefit from a remake. Not just for the extremely racist bit that you mention — seriously, so racist, and it just comes out of nowhere and is completely unnecessary — but also because it’s just not a very good movie in general and actually has lots of room for…
I saw Beauty and the Beast, which was... fine, but like you said didn’t bring a whole lot new to the table. I also saw Dumbo, which did bring a lot of new stuff to the story, but it was all terrible.
Honestly, it’s tough to be more racist than “What Makes the Red Man Red.” Not impossible, of course, as the live-action parts of Song of the South can attest.
See, this is how it should be done. Don’t remake a movie that was already creatively successful and holds up well even after decades. Remake something where you can actually bring some improvements to the table. Like, The Black Cauldron? The Aristocats? Not great movies! They could definitely be done much better!
Surprisingly, Disney never actually made any DTV sequel to Snow White. It looks like they had a prequel planned, that... apparently focused on how Dopey lost his voice after watching the death of his mother, but it was cancelled when John Lasseter took over Disney Animation in 2006.
Yes. $120.5 million is 341% of $35.3 million, but that means it is an increase of 241%.
They should sell a bundle with a regular Barbie doll, a pack of markers, and a pair of scissors for you to make your own.
The character was created for this movie so there’s no existing lore on him, but he’s played by a black actor, has an afro, and is named after one of the most well-know blaxploitation movies from the ‘70s, so I’m willing to bet that the character is supposed to be black.
It should be noted that long gaps were not the norm for Butcher. Between 2000 and 2015, he published 22 novels, plus a collection of short stories. His personal life kind of fell apart in a bunch of ways, though, leading to the big gap between Skin Game and The Aeronaut’s Windlass in 2015 and Peace Talks and Battle…
Do we know for a fact that Dolph Lundgren isn’t in this movie?
Ah, you’re totally right. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it, and I completely forgot that bit. I rescind any implied criticism.
Yeah, to do it they had to entirely cut out the whole “wanting to skin and wear puppies” thing. Which... essentially turned the remake’s Cruella into a character almost entirely unconnected to the original.
That probably didn’t make the cut because the original was a live-action movie with only a single animated element, so the new one wouldn’t properly count as a live-action remake of an animated movie.
Okay, so... I haven’t seen this show yet, but I just want to make sure I’m clear on how it ties in to the original films. As a boy, Mr. Wing finds Gizmo, forms this tight bond and goes through all sorts of adventures with him, they remain together for some 60 years, and then Wing just... sells him off to some guy?
Because they’re not just cancelling shows with “tiny” fanbases. They’re cancelling well-reviewed shows with solid viewerships right at the point where they would have to start paying residuals to the writers. It’s only shows with massive viewerships (like, say, Stranger Things) that are allowed to pass that point.
Seriously. Archie’s always been the weak corner on that triangle.
