I tend to associate Mortal Kombat more with “Friendship” than “Family.”

I think the heart of the complaint with this dynamic in movies is less that it’s unrealistic and more that it’s a double standard.  You see a lot of movies where Seth Rogen is imagined to be able to get Charlize Theron and basically no movies where Melissa McCarthy gets Ryan Reynolds and that this double standard…

I enjoyed Long Shot, but man, these political movies that like to pretend the world didn’t go insane after 9/11 and that the dream of the 90s is still alive are really becoming untenable.  Trying to make a movie like this which doesn’t even name political parties (until it suddenly does for one scene) look beyond out…

If there’s one thing about 70s/80s pop culture that makes no sense to me it’s the fact that so many people seemed to give a damn about daytime soap operas back then.

Hmmm... not sure I like the precedent of making people pay for samples on tracks that were never commercially released. Like, presumably ever rap song with a sample was “uncleared” at one point while it was being made, should they have to pay for every single one of those that accidentally leaks?
