People love Cloud as not for his character arc but his visual design. Take that and combine it with the fact that most people played FFVII before they could drive and you get a lot of revisionist opinions.

XIII and XV are explicitly not Nomura projects. He had essentially nothing to do with either finished project besides character designs.

Tell that to Apple, Adidas, Assassin’s Creed, McDonald’s, Domino’s, Starbucks...

As someone who respects Nagoshi for a variety of reasons, I find it very brave for Mr. Tanned Baby himself to judge people by their appearance.

I think the English voice actors are mostly fine in their own right but with the characters as stoic as they are and the story as straightforward as it is, the game benefits a lot from the Japanese VA’s added depth.
That was worrying since there were hints that the Japanese translation might be lacking but the dialogue

Really?? Damn. I haven’t played an AssCreed game in years but I counted up the Tsushima collectibles, and it’s about 400 individual items. Don’t get me wrong, it definitely helps that the game feels great to play, and the world feels good to move around in. Besides Breath of the Wild, I think this is the only open

Great piece, Brian.

Honestly I think this game’s writing is better in the sense that its characters make decisions that seem in-line with who you see they are through various character moments.

FFXIV continues to be one of the most successful MMOs in the past ten years and both FFVIIR and FFXV sold over three million copies. What do you define as a dying brand?

I really liked the combat but I can think of some things they can do to really refine it, yeah. Do you have a short list of things you’d like to see in Remake2?

I wasn’t personally very happy with XV but seeing the Versus logo turn into XV that one time made me pretty hype. I’d be down to see them do something similar for the next big game.

I feel really similarly. OG7 is in my personal list of GOATs. I think Remake is rough around some edges but overall it’s an amazing game and it more than met my expectations. I’m really happy to talk to coworkers and people I know who’ve never played the original enjoy playing through Remake just because they seem so

Funnily enough, I told my friends the same thing in terms of the release date. Even promised em beers and pizza if I’m wrong.
I’m thinking their development situation is a lot more efficient than it’s ever been and I can imagine they’ll be able to do pretty well with managing timelines going forward.

Sadly, it’s probably a bit unrealistic to expect a teaser trailer so soon but I’d be so happy to be surprised. Two of the things I want to see most is how/if they’ll redesign Yuffie’s weird armguard and what Cait Sith’s big moogle’s gonna look like.
It’sat least kind of reassuring knowing they’ve had a lot of this

Seems like you have more of a problem with the article then and not what Square Enix employees actually said.

I mean, why does it *deserve* a remake? I think the game is fine the way it is. If anything, something I want them to do is have a re-release with proper and faithful spritework. A remake would be nice but it’s clearly not what they want to do right now and I’m not sure why people don’t respect that.

I’m of the opinion that they should give each installment a different subtitle. Remake really fit for the context of this particular game and I think it’d be cool if they named one of the other installments Final Fantasy VII Reunion.

The landscape of video games is way different than it was when FF7 was first a success. JRPGs are coming back but they’re still not nearly the golden ticket they were before. It really was a potentially big risk considering the direction they wanted to take with the game.

Yeah, a big part of the reason that I’m heavily convinced a potential FF6 remake should be an outsourced or junior dev-staffed straight 3D port a la ToM is the sheer number of outspoken fans complaining that all they wanted from an FF7 Remake is better graphics. That would be way more of an issue to FF6 die-hards. And

I think something people need to look at whenever they mention Square Enix taking a long time to develop games is just how many other companies struggled to get big projects off the ground around the same time. Square was definitely one of the more notorious ones but I’d argue factors like misguided corporate
