I genuinely have no interest in watching a Lord of the Rings TV show when we have the still-excellent movies that, should you watch the extended cuts, last about as long as a short television season.

I Am Groot?

Serious question: How many people even remember that Bill Clinton was impeached? He still served his two terms.

I’m wary of bias and the timing seems suspect but all of this impeachment talk surrounding Trump is exhausting. Are we really that shortsighted to think that impeachment even works anymore? Taking out one man

Soros at it again!

“‘Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do.’”

Do people not still think Marcia Clark was a shitty lawyer who was exceptionally bad at her job and blames everyone but herself for her failings?

I think Ryan Murphy has to express every possible thought he has as an upcoming season of whatever show he’s talking about.

Murphy tells The Hollywood Reporter he was having second thoughts about the adaptation. When he ran into Lewinsky at a party, he realized “‘Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do.’”

Carl Anderson was most definitely Judas in the film- Ted Neely was Jesus. And Ben Vereen was the original Judas on Broadway, with Anderson taking over and being his original understudy. Just fyi.

All MCU casting starts off with changing a single letter of the actor’s names. You’ll have to go to my fan blog to see my 73 degrees of separation from Benedict Cumberbatch (Benedice Cumberbatch) to Dr. Strange. It’s really obvious when you think about it.

I liked that they made Simon Zealot look like a crazy anarchist. It’s probably the closest modern-day equivalent.

I think Ted Neeley and Ian Gillan are the standards for JCS, I mean this was written as a rock opera so who better to do it than the lead singer of Deep Mother Effing Purple. John Legend wasn’t bad but I just didn’t feel enough anguish in Gethsemane (esp towards the end when he wasn’t hitting the high notes). Also,

I kept waiting for those high notes in Gethsemane that just never came, and it seemed a little more low key than I expected. I guess I’m just too used to Ted Neeley’s film version, which never fails to blow me away.

Have to join the chorus on being underwhelmed by Legend. And it’s not just the awful attempts at high notes (look up Colm Wilkinson doing Gethsemane for a wonderful version sans high notes), he just... didn’t emote well. I guess I just have come to expect Diva Breakdown Jesus.

I know people seem to really enjoy John Legend, but he never really clicked with me. Sure, he’s talented, personable and charismatic, but it’s just that I don’t know how to love him.

I do not understand the praise Legend is getting for that performance. There was no acting to speak of and he has (beautiful) singing voice that’s totally wrong for the role. It’s not a soft jazz opera, it’s a rock opera!

Not really, since Yeshua ben Yassuf was almost certainly a Person of Color, being born in the Middle East and all...

I have notes:

The performances were mostly great. Legend is a wonderful singer but I’m not sure he really has the voice for this part. If you want to see a surprisingly great rendition of Herod’s song, go find Rik Mayall’s deliciously snarky version on YouTube. The sound mix on this, particularly at the beginning, was awful. I

John Legend can sing, but he doesn’t have the vocal range for that score and it was rough hearing him try to attempt it and he had about two facial expressions acting-wise. It was smart of them to surround him with seasoned theater performers though so I can’t complain too much because I thought everyone else was
