I’m ok with this. The truth is, Marvel Netflix shows have been dipping in quality since the success of the first season of Daredevil, and it’s time to start trimming the fat. When the one constant about these series is that their villains outshine their heroes, then maybe these are heroes that can’t carry their own

Netflix tracks how many people watch a show. It’s pretty simple really. They take a long time to release their numbers though. The Marvel shows, even the critically maligned first season of Iron Fist, are have been at the top of their most watched series according to their investor meetings last year. They aren’t

There will be no Defenders 2. There will be no more Marvel Netflix shows beyond what’s already in production. Neither Disney nor Netflix have anything to gain from coproducing content with the Disney streaming service on the way.

and whereas the earlier killing of Iron First sounded like it was mostly Disney’s doing

Pretty much this. Basically it seems Netflix is all set doing coproductions with a soon to be competitor in the streaming realm and Disney is all set dumping cash into a competitors show as well. They planned to do a LC season 3, Coulter was still under contract, but Marvel and Netflix were at odds during

No reason to be surprised by your indifference. Between Iron Fist season 1 and Luke Cage back half of season 1, and most of season 2, being subpar or a complete slog, I know I’m having difficulty summoning up much grief myself.

Season 2 definitely felt like someone in the writer’s room had the brilliant idea of making Like Cage more “dark and edgy” and no-one else had the balls to stand up and say “so... NOT Luke Cage then?”

Long seasons isn’t an excuse for anything, just hire better writers. After nearly a dozen seasons of Marvel Netflix, not to mention decades of tv history, there is no excuse for this kind of gross mismanagement.

There were definitely some great moments and scenes, but they were bogged down by the bad ones. Luke Cage becoming the Crimelord of Harlem just a few days after saying he can’t be bought was a character-killing move. Cage is a boyscout, he can’t run all crime the neighborhood. Luke cage is now a pimp and drug dealer

I don’t expect to be the person who changes your mind, but Agents of Shield really did start clicking after the late Season One Winter Soldier twist, and has been good to very good then back to good then borderline-great then back to good and so on ever since. If you averaged its quality against the average quality of

The problem was mostly the plotting, the season was filled a bunch of disconnected storylines that didn’t seem to be going anywhere. (Not even a shorter season would have saved it)

I’m struggling to remember the villain of Season 2

THIS IS WHY YOU DON’T END SEASONS ON CLIFFHANGERS.

It also means Marvel’s only show about a solo black superhero is now about how he goes from being a hero to running a criminal empire.

Both seasons of Luke Cage were harmed from uneven second (and third!) acts. I had trouble caring about the last 4-5 eps of each season, so maybe others did too and the “bingeability” suffered. Daredevil was similar in that regard but was helped by being first and having better villains. Misty Knight was the only good

Huh, out of the three of them, the show with the worst second season survived.

WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME!

I will defend Songs About Jane to my dying breath.

Turns out that “May” is just a nickname. and it’s really Aunt MARTHA!

Agreed. Topher Grace was fine in the role. The problem was in the writing.
