Really glad she’s okay! I understand the urge as a teenager to go off your meds once you start feeling “normal” so you can just be a regular kid. I hope she realizes how helpful they can be to avoid situations like this.

I feel like neither of those thoughts demonstrate either empathy or compassion for a fellow human being and her family who are, it seems, going through some rough shit. I like a contrarian as much as anyone else, but come on.

He didn’t “open with” that - he spoke to her very calmly, politely, and respectfully for nearly 30 seconds before she started freaking out - at which point he said that (rather calmly, I might add). He was calm throughout the entire exchange, including when the woman lost it and they removed her from the plane…

You know, I think about this a lot. I find it absolutely rich when white people say “all Asians look the same” or “all blacks look the same.” Its like...have you seen YOUR OWN RACE?

Universities should just not support these institutions and should limit their ability to throw parties on school property.

If my company did it during work hours and got a tax break, you aren’t happy. If the staff do it on their own and not during work hours, you aren’t happy. So, fuck right off.

My company did something similar this year. All our employees paid for school supplies and books out of our own paychecks, and then we scheduled several events at community centers throughout the state. Each child who attended could get everything on their school supply list if they also chose a book and read from it…

Or children who will grow up and remember this really great dude who gave back to his community and supported children to read and one day give back to their own communities.

And this is why Egyptology is amazing.
