The first panel in Nerf Now! is what I usually see when I try to play a healer in Overwatch.
I wonder if it also has to do with the target audience? I’m pretty sure Final Fantasy games are still largely targeted at teenagers and young adults, who are going to have lower expectations with regards to writing. Games like the Witcher, on the other hand, are marketed to adults and will be written differently.

With AAA titles it’s really bad because sometimes they take forever to “open up.” That is, the game takes its sweet time handing you all the tools you need to enjoy the game. For example, Assassin’s Creed 3 took hours to finally hand you a fully-armed Connor ready to explore New England.
Never rely on the duty finder if you want to try something superfluous or crazy. Most of those guys are only in it for their daily runs and would like to finish as quickly as possible. If you want to try something silly turn to your free company for help.
