Not to mention, a layoff of that size would clearly fall under the WARN Act (both the Federal and California iterations), and so would have him be paying at least 3 months more of salary for all these people.

It is an obvious bluff by Musk to get the government to block the acquisition. Laying off 75% of the staff would doom Twitter and make his (and others) investment in the acquisition worthless. Trump would be welcomed back to a social media platform that would be spiraling into the dirt.

I used to like Musk
