Even worse is the Gladiator:

Helping homeless people is not remotely akin to feeding bears.

There is a steady shift in the market towards more affordable and usable electric vehicles.

I think anyone who is savvy about EVs is going to be aware of both. I’m not sure that Toyota has that much more brand cache’ over Subaru...perhaps with EVs but goes back to my first point if buyers know they are the same car they are going to prefer the one with a tax credit.

Wow, the rare instance of “Do you know who I am?” being used to a positive effect!

This one’s a classic from the Obama years, but still perfectly accurate:

The sad part, 25% of Americans probably believe this.

Fucking Biden invades Ukraine then raises gas prices.

I never understood people’s complete misunderstanding of why Toyota isn’t “leading” in EV like they do in ICE. They are leading. They’ve been electrifying vehicles for damn near 30 years. They’re just astute enough to not push unviable solutions to the masses. Yes, EVs are just now barely becoming viable on the scale

Don’t waste your time. There’s no reasoning with these people.

280k people die EVERY YEAR from obesity in the US. That’s 7.8 MILLION people over the next 28 years. Should we ban McDonalds? Maybe make a switch from cars to bicycles? If this was really about saving people’s lives we’d be focusing on some other shit as a society.

I mean....that’s 0.033% of the US population in terms of deaths, spread out over the next 28 years?!?! That might as well be nothing when you take into account statistical error. You have to scale this stuff, 13.4 million lost work days is 478,571 lost days every year over the next 28 years. Working population of the

“All (white, property owning, penis-having and presenting as male men) are created equal”

EV batteries are composed of scarce, expensive materials. Hybrids and PHEVs use much smaller versions of those same batteries. The materials used to make a typical 75kWh EV battery could have been used to make roughly 50 hybrid batteries or 5 PHEV batteries. The battery in a single Hummer EV could have made 133

Same fam. Just bought and got confirmation. Been trying for literal years.

This is an opinion I will fight till my dying breath for. https://jalopnik.com/the-new-jersey-turnpike-is-the-greatest-road-in-the-u-s-1848363837

This is a great write up, Andy. I sincerely appreciate how you acknowledged it’s faults and how frankly pointless a vehicle this big is in a way that isn’t trying to shame someone for enjoying it. I personally have no drive to own one of these, but I totally get the appeal.

At this point I am fine with it. Reagan burned the government to the ground to get re-elected and T#### did the same. Most didn’t notice that the “good times” were from cutting taxes and ramping up spending to crank the deficit and the national debt.

Do not hose out a Honda Element! There’s nowhere for the water to go, so you’ll end up rotting out your floors:

These are powered by a K-series and have no timing belt. Those motors are chain-driven. The only belt-driven motor Honda made after the early 00s is the J-series V6.
