Thanks - don’t often get resounding support on the internets

Actually I immediately see the new Acura design language in this. And that’s not a good thing, to me. The CLS looked great when it first came out and it has never looked as good since

Here’s another question - if automotive technology evolves to the point where any car, even a cheap car, can achieve 0-60 in 2 seconds, is that in any way a good thing? Is that not completely out of context in the environments we build for ourselves, and exacerbate road rage?

I think you’re all insane. This is what automotive fandom has come to? A silent roller coaster that you won’t want to launch more than once because it will make you sick? In environments where people on the street should have the right to not worry about people going 0-60 in 2 seconds?

You bring up a good point though. I don’t doubt that it’s survivable, but hello, we are now basing a car’s acceleration on whether they will be survivable? Does no one think about the environments we live in in which case there is no justifiable reason why any road car should go 0-60 in 2 seconds?

wow you’re pedantic as fuck

Didn’t say anything about there being more people who would do that than would buy Camaros. Nothing to do with sales stats. All I was saying was, there are people who would rather get a BRZ and tune it for more power than buy a ponycar that already goes fast.

I always liked this thing, with the Viper face, and Chrysler cab forward design. Of the American automakers Chrysler was really kicking ass in the design department in the 90s.

I don’t see many cross shopping BRZs with Camaros. Personally I don’t like the blocky appearance of the ‘pony cars’ and also the mail slot feel of being in a Camaro is real. A lot of people would rather get a BRZ and supercharge/turbo it than a Camaro.

I don’t see people cross shopping BRZs and Mustangs. They appeal to pretty different people.

I’m an owner and I would tend to agree. I think its gritty nature is cool, but it doesn’t rev as freely and happily as say, a Honda. Having said that it is a dramatic car to wring out and when I’m on it I don’t have very many complaints.

Yeah, but you’re wrong. The Prius is consistently one of the most reliable vehicles on the market. It’s one of Toyota’s most reliable models.

This.

And that doesn’t matter one bit because Priuses are known to be ridiculously reliable. If I’m going to daily it in an urban commute, I don’t care for it to be anything more than decently comfortable, get great mileage, and be very reliable. I don’t have that faith in a C-Max at all, and Ford hybrids don’t get mileage

You know, I was recently thinking the same thing. If I had to drive everyday in terrible Toronto traffic, I would seriously consider a Prius because I know it is going to get me good gas mileage and I know it is an EXTREMELY reliable car, and commutes are often mind numbingly boring anyway. I can leave my fun car to

Hyundai/Kia/Genesis is a Korean company run by Europeans. As an Asian person that annoys me more than a bit that they don’t put their own people at the top.

Haha, well OK, I care even less about this company than I originally did now. He is not wrong about EV’s performance potential. But if he sees the only performance indicator as power, then that is quite worrying. Also, Tesla fans tend not to be people who truly love cars. So, he’s essentially spitting in the face

Yeah, OK. How?

This car doesn’t seem to set itself apart in any way - its styling is an amalgam of several other models. After the initial ‘new sheen’ of Genesis, I’m not sure what their selling point is.

I know this is Jalopnik, but is it unreasonable to ask for some journalistic substance rather than just some superficial observations with a blunt title?
