It is a total fallacy that climate change issues would be solved by forcing private vehicles to go EV. Yes it may help but look at where the sources of greenhouse gases are nationwide. It’s about 30% from transportation, and within that freight trucking are the growing components. As more consumers buy EVs there

This idea that every single car has to be turned into electric or else the world will be doomed is so far from what looking at actual sources of emissions suggest. Of course EV shift is needed but for some small amount of cars to stay gas is absolutely inconsequential.  All transport sources together including

I will never understand Americans’ insistence on stretching finances on leases for cars that are bigger and more loaded up than they can deal with.

I have said this before - Elon Musk and Donald Trump are much more similar than at first pass - based on their willingness to twist truth and inability to accept criticism.

Also the problem with EVs is people assume that they are a panacea, but promoting EVs in the world’s most coal heavy nation(China) is a big cause for concern.  At least they should be promoting hybrids, not EVs until their grid cleans up

Well guess what China is also the world leader in - using coal power. That is a highly concerning combination with electric vehicles being incentivized there. Hybrids would be a much better solution until the grid is cleaner but people are really swept up in electric vehicle fantasy land.

What bothers me is how people paint EVs with the same stroke of the brush - having massive battery packs near 100kwh to power a very heavy vehicle is not a sustainable approach.  With a large battery it can take many years of driving time for EVs to make up for the more energy required to make them, and the mineral

I think Akio Toyoda doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. How cool is it that the CEO of the company does GT4 racing, and he is really pushing for more performance products from Toyota. Say what you will but I don’t think the 86, Supra, and this would exist without his leadership, and compared to other Japanese

Turbos are why. And nowadays people expect cars that are generally quiet, but still want the good engine noise, therefore systems are created to augment just engine noise.

I’m totally down for it. It’s good when it’s done well and not digitised, like with the Toyota 86 or Lexus LC500 which are literally physical pipes connecting the cabin with the intake, and augmenting the induction sound. What was the biggest knock on the current Type R? That it doesn’t sound aggressive enough.

Carlos Ghosn seems to be the ultimate globalist bottom line seeker, which taken to its ultimate form would result in one company that produces many cars with different fascias, erasing any individual character or regional distinctiveness.

Kristen, you’re so beautiful!

What is the point you are making, are you surprised that a corporation is acting like a corporation? Is Toyota forcing anyone to buy its SUVs? There are much worse fleets out there and if everyone wanted Priuses that badly then Toyota wouldn’t build SUVs would they.  Why are we even talking about Toyota and singling

I don’t feel the need to defend a large automaker but I do feel the need to point out knee jerk journalism when I see it. This whole article feels like it was stitched together to prove some point that isn’t there. Honda and Subaru and Mazda score high for the fleet because they don’t have large trucks and SUVs. Is it

It makes a big difference at low speeds.  There have been multiple instances when I was walking in a parking lot and was surprised by a Tesla right behind me - that has never happened with other cars.  Also if you ever bike you do gauge cars behind you with noise - especially if they are accelerating.  The scary thing

This car is not “ragged on by journalists”.  This car is absolutely adored by journalists, and it’s hilarious that you’re implying some sort of insidious plot by journalists to discredit this car.

So to all the people who still wanted the new Supra to be completely made in house, well you could have another 6 figure car that you will never buy, or you can have one less than half the price which is a fantastic performance value but you can’t accept because something about bloodline PURITY

No no no, this is exactly why I am not so hung up about a BMW/Toyota fusion - all the internet warriors who wanted Toyota to develop brand new everything for the Supra would be facing a 6 figure price tag that they cannot afford.

I think it’s a sad state of affairs that the future of performance is about heavy bricks with disorienting acceleration .  Completely unsuited to the environments we drive in.  So much excess in power that cannot actually be used.

Honestly, how long until they ban people from yelling in public spaces?
