I can’t help but wonder if this will start popping up more frequently as we potentially go into a recession. Esports teams rely a lot of speculative money for their salaries, which may very well dry up soon. That, to me, explains the shitty cheap hotel they provisioned them in in this case.
If you’re ever in Massachusetts, we can get a beer and I’ll vent about how we can’t shut the fuck up about the Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins for five seconds.
Borders can’t contain our mutual misery.
The “historical accuracy” argument only seems to pop up when there are women or minority characters in game, or there is a lack of NAzi symbols in a game. Weird how that works.
I got into an annoying argument with someone about Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn that started with “a woman can’t do all that stuff” (which I attempted to counter with the triple threat of “no one can - it doesn’t have to be fully realistic” and “some women could - Aloy is one” and “it’s a video game”)
But it was all a…
I’m all for historical accuracy, but there’s a thin line to realism where a dev has to consider things like my character needing to go to the bathroom and sleep or going into battles that actually took place in ancient Japan, fighting giant enemy crabs and hitting their weak points for massive damage.
Yep, after all the work to make Kotaku a diverse site that could *shock* cover games from a different perspective it seems oddly expected it’d quickly be destroyed by a group of suits who you could easily confuse for a stock photo.
I hate how often these posts keep showing up. I hate the underlying cause. But I’m glad that y’all keep finding better opportunities. Good luck, Maddy. I’ll be looking forward to Thursdays, as always.
At this point, I’m just waiting for the news for Kotaku to shutdown...
RIP a real one.
Reading comprehension not really a strong point with ya, eh?
Clearly you didn’t actually bother reading their reddit post. They specific state that until the computer is rebooted, you cannot reenter the game. This means that it’s performing the -exact- same task with no new gaps in security created for hackers. The chief difference is that if you do not want it running after…
Please tell me what part of the article indicates these changes will allow cheaters.
Did you read the same article I did? Did you read the article at all in the few minutes it’s been up? There weren’t changes to the overall design they adjusted it so it runs only when it’s supposed to and when someone wants it to run. That’s some basic tightening up you would expect after feedback on any beta…
Jason wouldn’t let me put together a roast for him so if you refresh the site all day and don’t see one you know who to blame. But since the Kotaku comments are a bastion of freedom and haven’t been turned off yet I’ll share mine here:
Jason was a fearless advocate for making sure we never pulled out punches. One time…
He saved his greatest trick for last.
You’ve worked hard over the years to build a name for yourself. And it’s worked. I know you’ll be successful wherever you end up.
Who’s going to delay our long awaited games after you leave Jason?
