Yeah I can't bring myself to watch even clips of the actual speech. Skimming the transcript was hard enough.

Wait a sec… I just saw ST3 as an adult, and that STILL went over my head. Granted, I was getting a bit drowsy by the midpoint…

There's too much money at stake for one of these movies to be utter shit. The good news is that it can be reliably mediocre!

Hey in all fairness, I would not list Kim Kardashian as one of the most famous celebrities in the world. But mostly because I don't own a reality tv.

Woww…I remember that WSU sketch. So freaking good, even if you don't know about the local colleges. "I've seen a lot of guys from UW with the backwards baseball caps…know where I can get one of those?"

I have really fond memories of it. I used to watch the whole Almost Live/SNL block every Saturday night, and Almost Live was consistently funnier.

Netlfix has done an amazing job lately of removing all the features that people liked and replacing them with shit.

Yeah I'm a fairly big Feig fan, but I don't see how a sci-fi/action comedy really plays to his strengths at all. Wright would have been a fantastic choice.

That's a damned good point. If anything, these excessive remakes and reboots have strengthened my memories of childhood diversions, while ruining any chance at originality in the present day. People, we've got it all backwards!

Definitely agree that the continued lack of Tropic Thunder is baffling. I think SLP is a dramedy/rom-com (and a damned good one at that), so I'm fine with it getting the nod.

Yeah, the GOT noms seem to be based on big names/longevity only, and nothing to do with actual strength of acting in a given season. Like, Maisie Williams does not deserve a nod this year, nor does Dinklage, with his limited role in S6.

Was "bad pussy" a horrible throwaway scene at the beginning of Hardhome? Because if not, they messed up big time. But I'm trying to block out anything Dorne-related, so I really can't remember.

The original is downright awkward to show to younger kids. A lot of non-PG material in there, like the ghost BJ.

This is all well and good… but what does Genevieve think about the new Ghostbusters?

I think that's what I like about the original… it introduces the idea of ghostbusting and how ludicrous it is. And it takes time establishing these ordinary guys and then how they become a phenomenon. If it was non-stop ghostbusting… it would tip much more heavily from comedy to action, which I guess is what the

I haven't seen it in awhile, but I feel like there might be a few laughs with Ruffalo and the kid. Or Matthew Broderick being a total dick.

Yeah a lot of these are….partly comedies, but still not how I would primarily classify them. Like Force Maejure, a move I absolutely adored…. definitely had a lot of funny moments, but it was more of a domestic drama for me.

I can't for the life of me see why anyone prefers RT scores over Metacritic. Maybe they poll a wider amount of critics? But the binary rotten/fresh rating just doesn't seem nearly as meaningful. Not to say that metacritic is perfect, as they assign a grade based on reviewer tone if none is present.

Well… my knee-jerk reaction is that Ghostbusters has already had a sequel, an animated tv show, a Hi-C beverage line, many video game adaptations, etc etc. Citizen Kane has had none of those things. So the thought of remaking one over the other in 2016 is a bit different.

Seriously… from a pop-culture-deaths perspective, maybe it won't be as bad as 2016. But in terms of our political and cultural landscape…. it's going to be a COMPLETE SHITSHOW. And this is not even factoring in what it'll look like if Trump wins.
