I don't think i've managed to watch that one all the way through. I love the novel and i love kurosawa/mifune, but that didn't seem quite the way to go about adapting it.

there actually isn't that much bodice ripping going on. i'd describe the series more as an emo sulkfest with a few supernatural/horror tropes thrown in (and then thoroughly misused. see: vampires sparkling in sunlight rather than being killed by it)

actually, a decent Crime and Punishment adaptation wouldn't be that hard to do. cut some of the stuff with Raskolnikov's family and just focus on him, Porfiry, and Sonya…it would be pretty watchable for broad audiences and could still keep plenty of the psychological depth

yeah, this has always been one of my favorites. beatles references aside, it's just another representative of the show at the peak of its genius.

the plan is for the state to put together some dispensary regulations to ideally have working stores by Dec 2013. unless of course the feds get involved before then…..which will almost certainly happen

introducing those old classics to new gfs is usually a bad idea…especially if they're black in white or subtitled. then again, maybe they are best litmus test you can use
