agreed…I've never taken the Bond franchise very seriously (though it can do serious well, like in From Russia with Love)….so I love crap like Moonraker

agreed 100%. and not just for bond films…any action movie where the villain is basically trying to nuke the whole world gets so tiresome. i just watched Ghost Protocol the other night, and while it was a fantastically crafted movie, the plot was so generic

so the lesson here is that only proper writers can craft a scenario where the villain plans to blow up the world with 50,000 stolen nuclear missles. so that's what they teach in writer's school! *scraps james bond and the trade federation embargo screenplay*

I think movie studios generally have a sense of the quality of their product before they get the marketing gears churning. which is why you're unlikely to see a highly hyped film get totally panned by critics. feel free to discredit me with numerous examples to the contrary

the fact that posters are having a hard time differentiating the brosnan bond films is a pretty good reflection of their quality. either that or they just have the most generically awful names in bond history. give me another octopussy anyday!
