Why is it so hard for men to behave like grownups when they are at work?

When I worked in the power generation industry, my colleague and I — who were the only two women on the entire team of approximately eighty people — were both asked to participate in a photo shoot for the company’s glossy annual report.

Prior to 2016, I’d have said things were getting better, and we were moving, though slowly, towards a world where this kind of bs and, e.g., hanging a noose in someone’s workspace as a “joke” would become so rare that an instance would make national news. In February 2017, however, I’m thinking I was wrong.

It’s rare to find an female engineer in a production environment outside of design or general engineering. The production floor is by far a male dominated environment and one that isn’t very open or supportive to those outside of the “boys club”*. I didn’t really enjoy my time there especially working for the Quality…

A legit female rap beef of this stature makes me think gender equality is possible.
