Meh, yeah.... But isn’t feminism about the fight against sexism? And doesn’t sexism hurt men too? I’m a feminist. To me that means I’m fighting for fathers to get paternity leave as well as equal pay for “women’s work”. And whatever you call yourself, if you are against sexism then aren’t you on the side of feminists?

You are so right

Thank you! That's the best response I've heard & I'll be stealing it from now on😘

Yup, but what matters more? The term feminist or the beliefs I & many (but not all) feminists think it stands for?

Yes, it does in that it skirts the gender-specific oppression of women. But honestly, if someone doesn’t feel good about the “F word” but is true to it’s basic tenets (sexism is bad in all forms), then I would rather focus on our shared views than get into a fight over terminology.

While I’m a lifelong feminist (since The 80s... When I was a kid & first heard & understood the term), I’ve gotta say I basically give zero fucks if anyone else chooses the term to describe their beliefs. It just doesn’t mean to everyone what it means to me.

I think you are right that the newly-converted can be the most zealous, but honestly... I am lately kinda dumbfounded by the extent of persuasive closeminded-ness to be found in Christians in general. The Protestant (even in non-fundamentalist sects) anti-catholic bias in my circle that has come to my attention with

Eh, only if you live in the places that have that terrible thing. The “discovering the rotting” one.

Because access to MISinformation is sadly just as easy.

May I suggest, that alongside bringing yelp down, you encourage Jezzies to kill yelp with kindness? If everyone went in to yelp and 4-5 star’d every place they like/love, it might help balance out the crazies & make yelp better!

No, anyone can create a listing for a business. The owner can “claim” it and then correct info (like hours, etc) and respond to reviews, but yelp is a consumer-oriented thing, not a business-oriented thing.

Don’t stop leaving good reviews for good places- it helps even out the jerks!

YES. My friend waited on this couple at the end of a really busy Friday night. They had to wait 5-10 minutes to be seated, because tables needed to leave/be cleared. They were nice, fine, ate all their food, tipped 20%. Went home & gave us a one-star review because they had to wait, the service was slow, the kitchen

See, that review is breaking Yelp’s reviewing guidelines (you need to actually eat/drink to post a review) but Yelp, TA etc strongly cautions businesses against flagging those bogus reviews, since the reviewer may then repost a NEW 1* review omitting the “we weren’t actually customers” part, that also complains that

What about trip advisor too?

Yup, anytime the age gap is under 15 years it’s a big to-do. Meanwhile, irl the vast majority of couples in my larger circle are within a decade.

I know, right? That show has really surprised me.... I was expecting it to be like SHIELD but it’s much more nuanced (I’m only 4 episodes in, so I hope I don’t eat my words)

Movie couples are almost Always cast with a decade or more age dif, so we are all kinda used to it! But it’s still weird, IMO. Sure, a few couples in my circle have an age gap one way or the other, and of course irl folks love who they love, but the way the film industry skews it is really excessive. I was watching a

Maybe he has input? He's still married to the same gal and they aren't decades apart, and in interviews he really comes across as a decent fella. Unlike most of the others (Denzel excluded!)

That always bugs the shit outa me! Especially when they have an actor who is 15-20 years older than his co-star but they are clearly meant (thru flashbacks to childhood or college) to be the same age. I wish I could remember the titles, but I’m thinking of one with Russell Crowe and another with Robert Downey Jr as I
