I don’t have a good explanation for you and I don’t want to shit too much on this to you since you’ve said it helps with your anxiety (I’m glad! managing anxiety is really tough.)

I don’t think these ASMR ladies/MUAs/women on the internet (and to extend to your other point, sex workers) deserve any of it but it doesn’t change that I’m not surprised that they (particularly sex workers and ASMR ladies since they seem to be simulating a kind of intimacy) have to deal with a high volume of creeps

Great, now I have chicken cordon bleu balls. Thanks, the Takeout.

“Ideological cul-de-sac” is a really nice description for it. I just assume that its part of the appeal of commenting anonymously online. They can adopt a holier-than-thou pose without anyone every being able to prove whether or not they are actually fighting for what they believe or mentally masturbating all over the

Yeah, dismissing that is really weak. Good ideas need to be implemented well or they lose some of their luster. I am sympathetic to the idea that constantly yelling “HOW WILL WE PAY FOR IT” is a form of derailing but dismissing any hand wringing doesn’t change that paying for progressive ideas and implementing them

I think it’s nice that you look at it so positively. Here’s a screenshot of what i saw before hitting reply:

I’m just shocked that something as creepy as ASMR attracts maladjusted men who think the women whispering into youtube are speaking directly to them.

“because you don’t know us at all we laugh when old people fall”

It’s not worth engaging with him (and, like, it’s 100% a white guy.)

Isn’t the west coast supposed to be the laid back one?

I’m guessing it was the March 19 post of the kid near some poppies? I don’t any posts to his public page about her but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t dick to her in direct message or anything. thanks!

wanna prove it?

what’s it like to have so much faith in people to do the right thing? i’m genuinely asking because i just don’t.

i think we have very different ideas of what makes a good community but your point is well taken. and, fwiw, i think you’re spot on about how micro-breweries can succeed and find their audiences.

You should feel bad that you missed a Simpsons reference though.

It truly does. The list of the worst people ever used to be 1. Hitler, 2. Me. Now its 1. You, 2. Hitler, 3. Me.

Oh for sure. I just chuckled at the OP’s comparison to coffee shops. The comparison definitely works but I was amused by the train of thought that added up all of the elements they listed and got coffee shops. I see it but my brain went straight to bar, first.

you’re also describing a bar

I have worked in restaurants though? That’s why I’m willing to forgive little mistakes that really don’t hurt me. I’m sure you would want someone to forgive any little mistakes that you made or make while working.

Stern in 2019 is a totally different person than Stern in the ‘90s.
