*Prepares D batteries*

Shockingly off-brand for Splinter (until the last sentence.)

I see the Ohio Republicans have finally started watching the Handmaid’s Tale.

I’m beginning to suspect that the Trumps and the GOP are a little hypocritical.

The changes I’d like to see for sure won’t happen—religion is just too popular. I’d absolutely like to see a wider variety of faiths embraced *if* faith has to play a role at all.

I agree with re: society writ large. I’m talking specifically about Congress members on the floor. I know its a peculiar  thing to home in on but I’d like to minimize overt expressions of faith by people elected to a job that should be secular. I know that many Congress members fail at this and I am for wider changes.

I am not talking about restricting the rights of citizens. I was specifically saying that I’m not sure we should encourage religious iconography (of any kind) on the floor of congress given that their job is to represent their constituents in a secular capacity. That’s it. A very specific objection to one line in the

Would totally support getting rid of the chaplain.

All things I’d like to see go away!

these were big sellers out of the refrigerated vending machine at law school. nothing quite like stress-eating through three lunchables at midnight.

That’s fair enough and I definitely let my skepticism of religion get in the way of thinking that through.

Hey, I hit publish before I finished my thoughts. I don’t think my edit will speak to you but it’s there, for what it’s worth.

So are you trying to set up a situation where I basically have to say that I want more religious iconography in gov’t or I’m racist?

its a ban on hats, which I said I’m fine with overturning.

“A simple hat ban made by a bunch of white dudes 200 years ago is effectively preventing Omar from doing her job while exercising her faith.”

the speciality release world is definitely nuts but Kate’s pretty spot on with this one. i bet you could find this if you looked. hell, you might not have to look. my supermarket in NYC usually has singles on the shelf for weeks after its released and the beer distributor near my family often has them for months.

Oh, I agree with you 100%. I think you’ve got the right take on this situation.

This will be the first post-textual congress.

“Cats aren’t dogs.”

I’m just baffled by this. What else is AOC supposed to do? She was elected to Congress. That comes with all sorts of bullshit. I just don’t understand how this is surprising.
