It’s not doing the moves in reverse. The guy only does 9 moves when he scrambles it but it takes significantly more moves to unscramble it. It’s using a set of moves that will unscramble any randomly scrambled cube.

I think he is smart insofar as he knows how to manipulate people and take advantage of situations.
