Except that Gawker created and owns Kinja, so changing the platform isn't going to happen. Maybe it will improve, though.

You didn't present me with facts - and you were annoying me with responses that weren't furthering a conversation. I got sucked in to reply once, then thought better of it. I'll probably dismiss your last comment, too.
Wild claims - woohoo, they were WILD! I said that Jezebel had in the past made comments about Jessica Simpson's body....they have. Jeez, sorry to have offended your quaint sensibilities. (and you still didn't prove me wrong, huh?)
I'm not going to do a historical analysis of Jessica Simpson posts on Jezebel. How about YOU do that and prove me wrong. I dismissed you because "Prove It" is hardly a comment worth discussing.
It had nothing to do with her style - it was how her ass looked in an ill-timed photograph. And everyone piled on. And yeah - it IS the same thing on a site that is hypocritical about body-snarking when it meets the need of the story.
And a lot of those mentions of Jessica Simpson were found right here on Jezebel...remember the Mom Jeans and how much that upset y'all?
Cultures - man, how do they work?
Different cultures have different practices that are not always going to pass the test we put upon the world based on our culture. This was a difficult article to read and a difficult practice to learn about, and I'm glad to learn about it. Thanks.
Years ago, my husband and I were at an upscale Italian restaurant for Valentine's Day. The tables were close together, maximizing the dining volume I'm sure. Our next-table neighbors were an obviously under-age couple who were super-cute. The guy gets up to go to the restroom. The girl, meanwhile, notices the wine…
Yeah, that's kinda where I am..it seems that anything we thought on Friday is not-so-much now. And the fact that he was in an Akers Mill shopping mall (not his workplace) comes into play. The DA is now saying that "heat was not the cause of death" and that just makes me want to vomit.
Eww.
I don't doubt that - Southwest, aside- and I can tell you that those around her did what we could to make her feel better about her trip.
My point stands though - FAs are there to make passengers feel safe and comforted by a competent staff. Southwest is the Chuck-E-Cheese of airlines, so maybe that is the issue here…
Oh, me too. And there isn't anything concrete yet - but it weirds me out that that the DA is doing this word-dance now. There are change.org petitions for this case, a community uproar - and yet we don't have a shred of evidence other than the second-hand guilt we feel for someone who may have made a mistake - or…
I'm DRIVING THE CAR when I'm driving. When I'm in a plane, there's an awful lot left to chance beyond my control. Again, the two don't equate.
But do you see my point that this particular FA wouldn't have done a thing to make the woman flying next to me feel safe? Seriously - have a good time, FAs - yay! But seriously - it's still a very serious thing that people are undertaking and not everyone appreciates the levity.
There's a local story here in the ATL about a Father who has been arrested after his toddler was found dead in his vehicle. It was awful, a not-so-uncommon (lately) story about someone forgetting a baby in a car...but now it has taken a weird sinister turn. There isn't enough information coming out to totally refute…
I'm not sure why you would equate the two. I'm not freaked out by flying, but as a control-freak, I HATE being the passenger in a car. I would much rather be semi-in charge of my fate. With flying, you're as passive as it gets.
I do - and I am happy that they can make their jobs joyful at times. I just think there is a time and place to make passengers who need some extra assurance BEFORE the silly.
So what's the point in having a flight attendant then? Write down the safety measures, point us to the kitchen and let's just do it all ourselves?
I was on a flight last month and the person next to me was a VERY nervous flier. She was traveling to a family funeral, and actually had not been on a plane in about 20 years. This sort of thing is cute, and Southwest isn't exactly the classiest outfit - but I just feel like it's important to get the actual safety…
Hope Solo is still in jail.
There you go.
