The T5 and T56 transmissions used in Mustangs, Camaros, etc. have a shifter that is basically a stick on a ball, where the other end slots directly into the shift rails inside the transmission. You literally cannot get any more direct without having all lever on each of the 4 rails...

Sure it isn’t fast by any means, but the 4G69 is a nice little motor. It sounds great and it is pretty torquey. Plus with the MIVEC it is a little more rev happy than the 4G64 I used to have.

They were only sold as autos. That being said the cars have a nice chassis and despite being auto, the one I drove was really fun. NP

Was only sold in automatic. At least it was like that up here in Canada. The reason i bypassed it when it originally came out. Ended up getting a Mazda 3
