World War Z (the book) is a fucking masterpiece. For the reason you said, but also the exhaustive detail and real thought put into writing it. The time taken to postulate a rebuilding phase made it even better.

Wholeheartedly agree, but just one thing: Germany only started one World War (the second one). They get blamed for the first because they wound up doing all the heavy lifting on their side, but they got there the same as Russia, France and Austria-Hungary as part of that race to mobilize and fuck the other side before…
