Fair enough. I suppose the intent is fairly obvious depending on how it's position etc... I've honestly never seen someone do the tip deduction thing in real life. I hope I never do.

I've always heard 18%, but I admit I can't find a source one way or the other. Know of one?

The reason you were upset is that if you did your job properly, you were in fact entitled to their money. You performed a service and they refused to pay you. Your wages are set up in a way that expects that you're paid a percentage of the bill. If someone doesn't pay you when you did your job, it's essentially

Well yes and no. Federally, the servers are required to make a minimum of $2.13 per hour as their base pay (source). That being said, the minimum difference that the restaurant has to make is up to the federal minimum wage which is a paltry $7.25 (see last source and this). Some states require that you meet their

About the wallet thing... I usually put my wallet on the table simply because I find it uncomfortable to sit on it. That being said, I usually push it off to the side with the napkins and things so it's out of the way and not really prominent.

Actually, they are entitled to your tip. Food servers don't make minimum wage; their base pay is set to assume that they average 18% on tips in most states. In some states the employer is required to make sure they get minimum wage if the tips don't cover it, but that's not always the case and owners often ignore

To be honest, I much prefer this method to ads. Especially the damn popup video ads Gawker uses.

Thanks for the reply, I really appreciate the depth!

This really is an incredible set of stuff. Someone made the comment over on reddit that you could easily bootstrap a start-up with this pack. The more I look into the stuff, the more I think he was right...

The overhead of starting with iOS can be kind of high for a beginning hobiest. There's a lot more expense in developing with iOS, whereas Android is fairly easy/cheap to just pickup and go.

I first heard about Nickelback after I found out they were super hated by the majority of the world, and I do like them... Does that make me like an anti-hipster or something?

It says at the bottom of the article that it will be removed. The keylogging and search history all tell them how you're using the device. The article specifically says that keylogging is used to make better text prediction software.

To be honest, I don't think anonymity has anything to do with it. Look at all the sites that have started to require that people use their Facebook. Sure some people have probably created fake accounts, but I'd bet the vast majority of people haven't.

I think the point of that is that it won't be damaged by a vehicle going under 50 miles an hour. No matter how fast a vehicle is going when it hits this thing, it won't be going much further, and the people inside will be dead.

I think you may be missing the point of the application. This isn't really about any kind of security. Rather, it's about being able to plug your device into a PC and see a bunch of information about it. A lot of people don't want to be bothered with finding their music or photo folders and move things manually.

It's not a new trial, that would be double jeopardy. In the original trial, he was found guilty, and that hasn't changed. One of the checks and balances built into the system is that you can have a sentencing overturned if it's either too harsh or too lenient (as you see in this case).

I'm sorry that you have such a vehement response to the subject. For the record, I don't support the police in the Ferguson events, at all, but this really seems like an effort to keep the outrage going.

I mentioned the jacket thing because the person before did. The fire wasn't a danger to anyone, and the memorial was already ruined.

But what would that have really achieved? In that picture, the fire has totally engulfed the memorial. It's not worth saving at that point.

I'm sorry, but this is one of those "life hacks" that should never see the light of day. Just because something can be used to temporarily make your furniture shiny doesn't mean you should use it.
