I use static IP's for most tasks. If you have devices that communicate over a network, having them not change at random is a god send. If the old way works perfectly well, and the new way isn't better, why change?

I liked the idea of Evernote because it's mobile interface was so much better than the others. I found I simply couldn't stand the lack of organization that it provided. It has a similar feel, to me, of Google's search don't sort and I still hate that. I much prefer the more solid separation.

My wife's doctor said something very similar. He said to limit it fairly strongly in the first trimester, but after that it wouldn't hurt anything so long as she wasn't guzzling soda or pushing energy drinks.

I really don't understand the public property thing. My wife is nearing the end of her first pregnancy, and totally random strangers will come up and try to touch her. Since she already has issues with being touched, it's extra not okay.

I'd also like say wait a couple days. Your money isn't going to magically disappear or depreciate in a week. Take some time and give some serious thought as to what you're planning on doing with it. I've seen people spend their money the same day they get it and they often have some regrets later.

Thanks for this one! I really enjoy the Mass Effect series. They really have beautiful artwork.

Yeah, I was just imagining doing full disk images as a backup :P

Okay, I wasn't really familiar with the SDXC specifications. 2TB for microsd cards... Ugh, that would be unbearably slow...

How many devices actually have controllers that can support a MicroSD card with 128 GB? Since it's such a new thing, I'm assuming those choices will be pretty limited.

This is not true in Oregon. They can give you your 30 days notice if you're not on a lease, but if they sell and you have a lease, they just honor it.

I'm not really that familiar with rules regarding treble damages in Oregon. I moved out and sued to recover rent, minor property damage, and court costs. While, I was awarded an extra $500 or so for lost time and effort, I really just wanted to be done with the whole thing and move on with my life.

Rare earth magnets are fairly powerful, the carabiner on the left isn't particularly thin...

Eh, my wording was less than perfect there... The courts will assume what you said to be true within reason. If you specify what was said in the conversation, and the landlord does not refute that written statement, they then have to explain to the court why they didn't correct it. It shifts the burden of proof from

Wouldn't this shelf be terrible for anything with a battery? Especially for the phones?

Yeah, depending on how much effort you want to go through and what the issue is, that could be worth it. I had to battle a landlord over some serious issues with an apartment. When we eventually went to court he was suddenly the nice polite man we had originally met.

Having a MotoX, I really like how it has the hardware built in to always be listening when I want. It's a shame that there's really no way to get auto commands built into it for things like tasker.

A trick I learned from my first rental, as suggested by a lawyer:

For the most part, I rarely print in color. I would rather spend the upfront cost of a decent B&W laser printer that have to always deal with ink cartridges. Laser is just so much cheaper per page and it doesn't dry out.

It was really hard work, but it was a fantastic way to fund all the gear, food and trip costs we needed. If I remember right we usually averaged about $13 an hour per scout. The adults obviously volunteered their time and vehicles, but the troop at least paid their gas!

My troop did woodcutting. We'd get someone who wanted land cleared to donate the trees they wanted fallen and we'd split, deliver, and stack the wood for $200 a cord. We made a lot of money doing that...
