Aidan Turner was in a recent adaptation of Agatha Christie where he spends some time running about with just a sheet barely wrapped around his hips. It wasn’t true to the original story to have him naked but what a missed opportunity that would have been!

I LOOOOOVE that version. Emma Thompson’s sister plays Mary in it and got some serious Oscar buzz at the time. And Amanda Root’s big moment, when she claims for women the small privilege of loving “longest” and recaptures Wentworth’s heart, is perfection.
The bit that ruined it for me is when she’s running through Bath and they clearly couldn’t (or did not have the budget to) get rid of all the modern bits. You can see power lines in the background and I swear in one shot there’s even an airplane in the distant background.
I love Persuasion, but that was in Lyme, which is in Dorset. *pushes glasses up nose*

That movie holds up SO WELL. Just showed it during a gender unit in my class. Amanda Bynes has (had) some of the best comedic chops of any young actress I’ve seen.
