Hegemony is expensive.

He has the right idea, he needs to take aim at the bureaucracy within the military that pisses money away too.

Fucking Super Tucano :glares: a prop driven CAS plane has no business in the modern battle space.

Senator McCain, but what about the Warthogs? Never forget the Warthogs!

Maybe you didn’t get to experience Sequestration... it’s this lovely thing where one day the Air Force is saying “Do more with Less”, then the next day “do more with 25% less than yesterday and in 6months I’m going to take away another 25% then 2 months later another 10% for good measure but dont you dare let those

I think the stats are skewed a bit because many countries underfund their military. If there is any conflict USA will be picking up the slack bigtime. using other countries as the yardstick for what we should spend is problematic.

Guantanamo is like 4-500 miles from Key West dude. It’s on the far side of the island closer to Jamaica and Haiti.

No it’s not.

One is a power Constitutionally delegated to Federal government. The other is not.

I generally agree with McCain on military matters. He’s been a informed, intelligent, and experienced voice on the subject. As annoyed as I’ve been with his political positions I’ll throw in on this somewhat.

First, the Navy should develop a high-low mix of air craft carriers by building smaller conventionally powered carriers, not simply continuing to only build $15 billion nuclear powered Ford class super carriers.

the uplifting xkcd for the mars rover. I won’t post the depressing one.

The moment a child grabs a knife to stab a stranger for nothing and feels no remorse in doing so and yet worries about some jewelry lost in the process stops being a child she is a fucking psycho and should be in jailed forever.

That’s pretty textbook sociopathic behavior. (I don’t want you to think I’m excusing it or something, because I’m definitely not, just pointing out that I’m completely unsurprised.)

The problem with your blanket statement is that 42% of women and 30% of Hispanics voted for Trump. So either these women and Hispanics are ok with misogyny and racism against themselves, or people are able to rationalize away Trump’s statements because they agree with his other policies and/or hated Clinton. And if

As long as you make the assumption that Trump is an “ignorant, self-obsessed charlatan of a political figure” then you will always tar and feather anyone who supports him. He may be that, but she doesn’t say that.

Well then it’s a good thing I didn’t vote for Trump, huh?

They actually represent a pretty direct lineage.

You can hate Trump’s guts and still be hopeful that he doesn’t fuck everything up. Having hope about something you have no control over isn’t idiotic.

Sounds like she is just hoping for the best. Even her declaration that she would stand behind Trump comes with hesitation and acknowledgement that she does not share the same beliefs and will not force herself to. She even makes a point to say that she’s bunched into that negative stigma of what a Republican is,
