It’s only a matter of time, but we’re not quite there yet. There isn’t enough situational awareness possible currently, and even operating in theater there’s a second or two of lag time.

The Scorpion uses Honeywell turbofan engines developed for commercial use, so it’s not going to cost nearly as much to run as the typical small military turbojet.
The Textron Scorpion looks great. I’m not really sure why.
I don’t think anyone is ready to use drones for CAS in any form.
Oh DARPA! What will you come up with next!?
If something like that happened, I don’t think they would really turn on him so much as he would turn with them. All this talk about showing strength, I would hope his newer NSA would convince him to turn on Putin and hammer him with sanctions.
If Assad is that incapable of defending Syrian territory from ISIS, there’s a strong argument his government has lost legitimacy over Syria as a whole.

The SDF is made up of Northern Syrian Arabs, Assyrians, Kurds, and Turkmen, with a smaller number of other ethnic groups. They are not affiliated with Al Qaeda or…
Unfortunately, Putin thinks anyone who doesn’t back Assad is a terrorist. These were SDF fighters, mostly Kurdish YPG. The Russians need to tread carefully though. There are US special forces embedded with many of these units. If a US service member dies from a Russian airstrike, it ain’t gonna be pretty.
