Yes! I am excited to see this movie, but that point in the trailer when the woman makes the X-Files joke made me cringe so hard. I get that it’s trying to show these forced relationships that he’s repelled by, but it really just felt like let’s laugh a the woman with an accent.

My thought is that if you think an otherwise identical script would get traction with a WOC as the love interest, if Kumail IRL happened to marry a black woman or a secular middle easterner or south asian he would have just as easily found funding, you’re in denial.
