My favorite bit is when they’re all sitting around the campfires and Weitz’s character comes over to where he and Benny are sitting and he says “You’re in her seat.” pause. “NOW.” Perfect read.

It’s terrific! Hilarious, exciting, excellent chemistry between all the actors, and the writers/director understood that there’s a difference between “lovable rogue” (‘Why did you kiss me?’ ‘I dunno, I was about to be hanged. Seemed like a good idea at the time.’) and “amoral sociopath who not only got an entire

Absolutely. Rachel Weisz is adorable, and Patricia Velasquez is just.... just... just. I thought the second was OK, too.

I have found my people. I love the original Mummy!!

Brenden Fraser’s Mummy was AWESOME, so much so that it launched like 6 more movies. But yeah, lets throw it out for this drivel.

Yeah, I got that vibe, too. Especially a movie set in 90s New York? Come on, now.

Joining in on Team John Hannah. I love him in everything.

It’s a B-movie that was perfectly happy BEING a B-movie, and didn’t try to rise above what it was - and had great characters. It’s just a good, fun movie.

JOHN HANNAH IN EVERYTHING FOREVER PLEASE

And it felt like the old “monster adventure” movies, that was more important even, that it got the feel right. And it also felt that it was made by people who actually cared about the project, rather than “well, they’re still rolling up barrels of cash, and we’ve got a focus group but not for another nine weeks

“Sit down, Benny!” *chairsmash*

And Frasier’s Mummy had the incomparable advantage of being set in a time that is actually appropriate for a mummy movie. Although, really, all of Universal’s planned Dark Universe franchise would be much better served set in the 1910's to 1930's.

I consider the Brendan Fraser Mummy to be one of my best cinema experiences ever. I just remember the joy I felt when the credits rolled. It’s such a fun movie.

More importantly, John Hannah was in those movies!

It does seem very performative and not quite authentic. Also, way too precious for a woman in her mid 30s.

SO SICK OF THE WHITENESS OF IT ALL
I don’t in any way mean just this movie, I mean all the lovely indie movies that set out to be “interesting tales” about “normal people” - throwing in a poc subcharacter doesn’t make you diverse!
Perhaps after the 100 years of stories centred around white men, we’re now at the dawn

Tom Cruise isn’t going to be in a movie that isn’t at least 95% about Tom Cruise’s character... which is mostly the same character type he’s been playing since Top Gun.

Totally. Gingham crop tops, pastel eggs, highlighting cliched passages of cliche books... can’t take it. All while committed to being “kooky” and like, mildly, mildly edgy. And by edgy, I mean talking about her vagina a lot. Very sick of her. Seems like a lot of people are v obsessed with her though.

Poor Brendan Fraser. The 90s era movie was so great.

I’m convened Hollywood is trying to erase any evidence of Brendan Fraser with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and now Tom “The Dummy” Cruise
