They will probably nerf Predator by making him rely on primitive weapons in order to be sportsmanlike.

And if the Darkhold was corrupting her here, the film really didn’t commit to that idea.

Youre fully allowed to feel that way. And I respect your comment. But I absolutely love that Marvel went all the way with WAnda here. Because giving her a redemption arc is so typical and safe

And yet. First time the MCU has done this with a woman. At least the fourth time the MCU has done this with a man.

Here’s the thing, it means you just don’t like the character. Which is fine. But in all incarnations Wanda walks the line between good and evil, heroism and madness. And yes, you could take that away in the movie adaptations and call the character Wanda Maximoff, but it would be a lot like adapting Batman but having

Counterpoint: yes, it did, but not for you.

I think you’re giving too much credit to the male heroes.

It’s honestly great commentary on society and the reactions to it bear it out. People raise up a person to hero status who was never really a great person in the first place and then they disappoint everyone by turning out to be the person they always were. How many politicians, sports stars, actors, and musicians

Justification for treatment of her character? What justification is needed?

I cant understand why people (its the 2nd article like this on the site) keep pushing this idea that the movie is pushing Wanda as a “woman who got corrupted by power”…. she was corrupted by the book the quite literally (and explicitly told many times in the movie) corrupts EVERYONE who reads it, including multiple Dr

Not only that, it rectified my issue with Wanda Vision in presenting Wanda as the villain of her own story (neat!) until the finale chickened out (lame!). MoM had the nerve to see it through instead of having/eating cake.

I’m always surprised by the read that Wanda felt sorry for Westview. iirc her apology at the end of the series is super half-hearted. It’s more like she’s sad that she was caught and she’s unsettled by the revelation that she’s a scarlet witch. And yeah, in the post-credits she puts on the appearance of living a quiet

I will say tho, since Wanda’s development has been happening since Age of Ultron, her final descent into evil makes a lot more sense than the half-assed and rushed Dark Phoenix stories we’ve been getting in the X-movies.

It’s interesting how the MCU keeps trying to tackle unpopular/contentious comic arcs. Civil War, One More Day and now this.

This was my one critique too. By itself and in the context of the MCU, I loved the twist because I totally didn’t see it coming. I found it risky and bold from a franchise that doesn’t do that too often. But in the grand scheme of Wanda’s publication history, oy. As James says, this is the thing she’s always known

The fact is Scarlet Witch’s heel turn is arguably her most famous arc. Same with Jean Greys Dark Phoenix. And its a trope as old as time (for both sexes...absolute power corrupts...but it is highlighted more for women i will concede). What else would you have them do? Is that a cop out...maybe. But there really is no

That is more than I have for her. There was never a time where she didn’t know she was hurting everyone. We see her purposefully enslave a SWORD agent in episode 2. By halfway through she knows for a fact that she is intentionally enslaving and torturing these people and she still does it anyway.

MoM basically erased all that character development because “Wanda’s grief was amplified and turned to ‘madness’ by her exposure to the The Darkhold.”

no you dont. characters literally say it multiple times in the movie. they even use it as an excuse to why the Illuminati had to kill their Strange. Strange and Wong tell Wanda this when they try to talk her down in Kamar-Taj.

The Darkholm corrupts everyone that reads it.
