Just remove that Hyundai logo from the hood and it would’ve been perfect!
Just remove that Hyundai logo from the hood and it would’ve been perfect!
Good point - and I do see Amazon just waiting to acquire Rivian at the right time.
For everyday “sports sedans” driving around town, the Michelin Pilot Sports have the longest wear rating by a good margin and everything else is near second or first, with noise being its biggest weakness but we’re talking a difference of 0.9dB between first place and last place - turning on the radio pretty much…
“...they’ll likely hold out as long as they can before discounts resume.”
They should’ve released the VF9 (3 row SUV that looks pretty good) first.
Hopefully, Hyundai understands that the excitement was less about the “perfomance kick” and more about the design - Serious 80's DeLorean vibes look GOOD (better than the re-booted DeLorean concept) and definitely more compelling than any EV out of Tesla, Mercedes (with the exception of the Vision concept) or BMW. If…
So LEASE the Ioniq 5N? check check and triple check! I can imagine this car being a collector’s item if it delivers on most of the hype
Your last statement “Only time will tell,” is a bit of irony as none of these startups have any time left to develop an all new platform for a car selling at under $40K. That negative cash flow is not reversing and will only get worse over time because the market for cars over $65K is becoming saturated with more and…
Until VW has proven that it knows how to develop software for EVs, the ID.2 is another disaster waiting to happen. Thankfully, Hyundai/Kia will be delivering similarly affordable options that actually work.
4th Gear: Goodbye Nissan, you’ve forever cursed your brand with how you dealt with Carlos G. Please kindly hand over the Datsun Z and Skyline properties to Mazda.
2026 huh? Better late than never
Time to move on to the Ioniq 5-N
Doesn’t matter - they’re sold out
And of course, the minute this article was published, all allocations have been SOLD OUT. Another car that is not available to the masses, even the ones with money.
Excellent point and this is exactly why Toyota didn’t move on EVs earlier - if you run the numbers, the ROI was not there given the billions BILLIONS of investment over at least 3 year period, not to mention supply chain shortages and the global economic recession that limits volume sales to cars priced under $50K.
1st Gear: “It’s all getting better for Rivian; these things just take time.” Kinda mutually exclusive - the longer it takes the worse it gets for Rivian. Over the next 18 months, more and more $80,000 vehicles will be introduced that directly competes with Rivian and since that niche is a small one anyway, this makes…
Same risk applies to Rivian. How many years before the cash runs out? Rivian simply is not selling in volumes to benefit from economies of scale and their price point is a small niche. As boring as Tesla cars may be, their price is right. Additionally, more and more legacy brands are lining up some compelling models.…
Tesla has a huge advantage here as most of its 3/Y models qualify for the full $7,500 credit. Yes, I get the interior sucks, but most EV consumers are still looking at the allure of the $7,500 credit.
Unless we get range estimates above 300 miles, I doubt this Honda will be competitive in 2025.
Last generation of MB’s ICE vehicle comes to an end with a whimpering meh.
