It’s kinda crazy that Volvo (and Polestar) is putting out excellent EVs and yet is mostly a Chinese (Geely) umbrella brand. I have a C40, love it but can’t wait to upgrade to something with a longer range than 210 miles in the next few years.

LOL but on Jalopnik I thought anything with a manual is a thing? Apparently, the culture here has changed. As for me, I sold my manual a few years ago, now I only have EVs because instant torque 0-60 is addicting.

I beg to disagree - the 4.0 flat-six is a way better engine. It’s engineered to be driven at nearly 8000 RPM, and with an integrated dry sump this is a reliable track engine with the emphasis on “track”. Like you said, the Emira is “a playful, friendly car” and the engine choice made accordingly.

First: I’m loving that Tesla is finally pricing their cars at realistic margins - there may be another $1K or 2K of reductions left, but we’re almost there. Tesla can maintain these lean margins and still be in the red for the next few years, outselling every EV maker for the next 5 years until they get their act

Without getting into the politics of it all, I have ZERO interest in any Chinese car company for many reasons that have to do with privacy and ideology.

And this cheaper Model Y uses the latest 4680 structural battery pack that everyone had been so hyped about a year ago. I’ll wait for the “Long Range” to get the 4680 to see how much more efficient/better the range is after the refresh. The way things are going, there’s definitely no rush to buy any Tesla during these

1st Gear: These real time price adjustments aka “surge” pricing or in this case sink pricing is no different than dealers offering rebates and incentives subsidized by the automaker so that the buyer gets a net discount out the door. When demand is high, dealers add a markup above MSRP and when times are rough, it’s

true, the 4 shares the same platform as Geely cars in China. Only the Polestar 6 is being developed on a platform that is unique to Polestar alone but obviously way WAY over $100K

This approach has always been the case for new Ferrari owners and now it’s made its way to the Porsche ownership experience, sadly. Actually, having friends at your local P club helps because they’ll introduce you to their sales guy that knows the game and will walk you through the the process so it’s less of a

You prefer the latest BMW or Lexus?

Agreed - needs to be produced in the same USA factory as Volvo EVs for that $7500 tax credit but the $60K pricing eliminates it from consideration so it needs to be $55K because no way this is going to qualify as an SUV.

Exactly, speak with your wallet. Those who love it will buy the Polestar4.

One is focused on “excitement” so 0-60 will always be slightly faster and the other’s focus is on passenger comfort so rear seat comfort will always be better. Additionally, Volvos are designed to be practical so more trunk space while the Polestar will push form over function for design awards.

That’s what the LED animated thumbs-up is for, oh wait, that’s for the 2026 Polestar4

Roll down the window for a more emphatic bird, it’s more dramatic that way.

the Polestar4 will be an even smaller amount than that

Most commercial carrier vans large and small have the rear sealed up anyway, so it’s no big deal.

I used to drive a delivery van, only side view mirrors, no big deal.

Suddenly, ALL of the BMW designs this year look better. It’s a race to the bottom.

No thanks, I actually have to look at it every morning? Who is approving these designs?? Give me the job and I’ll mail it in too
