What I get from this story is that it is okay to harness normal people on Twitter, but the moment you mess with a politician then they bring the hammer down.

I think as long as both parties are respectful of the other's beliefs, it isn't really important if those beliefs match up.

I am a female lawyer in the US. I have been worrying about a problem at work - and this story reminded me that, in the scheme of things, I really do not have any problems. Even if something were to go terribly wrong, no one is going to behead me for doing my job.

I respond to less than 10% of messages...but you know what? The times I have taken the initiative and written to someone who had similar interests, I'd say my response rate is about one in five. So it's hard to meet someone for both men and women, except that men have more of the burden of initiating.
