This is the wrong take.

Most states do not check odometers.   I renew my registration online and they don’t even ask about the odo reading.  Only time they are is when I buy the car and when I sell it.

Check the hydraulics, but also check the adjustment of the rear drum brakes. They don’t self-adjust on these, so as the rear shoes wear, the gap between the shoes and the drum gets bigger, so the pedal travel increases.

I’m not a conspiracy nut, but I know my data can’t abused if no one has it.

Honest question-

Until EV marketshare becomes significant enough to really dent gas tax revenue, this seems a solution in search of a problem. Right now, the biggest problem with the gas tax is that it’s been the same since the early 1990s. Yes, EVs get a free ride, but we are already giving people up to $7,500 cash to buy an EV. If

This guy had a GTO too...

Andrew Cuomo has one so now they suck.  Sorry everyone who liked this previously awesome car.

I follow the approx 10 percent over not to exceed 10 mph “nine you’re fine, ten you’re mine” theory. It’s been pretty good to me for a quite a while now. I get the flow of traffic thing, and I mentioned as much in the comment... but 2.5 hours of it? Each way? Seems unlikely but whevs.

Illinois has a 70 mph speed limit.  20 over is 90.  On roads in the Rust belt.   Might need a Trophy Truck.

While I hate reckless drivers, 20 over the speed limit can feel very ordinary, especially with good road conditions. That’s only 75 on a 55 highway, which doesn’t really feel that fast, although the ticket will put a nice dent in your wallet.

The Honda HR-V is 7 inches shorter than the outgoing Civic and sells over 80000 a year. It’s not about size, it’s about body style.

I think there’s a set of EV buyers who buy them because they seamlessly work with their habits with almost no effort besides a home charger. And then there’s a separate set who buy them while very much trying to prove it’ll fit in their very particular lifestyle.

The very first design nails it. The more recent iterations are meh.

Except the majority of charging isn’t going to happen at charging networks, it will happen at home.

I flush mine yearly, but I also do autocross and track days. I would recommend every other year for brake fluid change if you are in a humid climate. The brake fluid will still absorb moisture and cause corrosion issues. Given that EVs can go easily 100k between brake pad changes, waiting that long for any type of

“It’s just one of those unique cars and it’s gotta fit your living situation.”

I, on the other hand, am just averse to a mode of transportation that requires cosplay.

For “retail investors”, the best way to invest is a low-cost index fund, and to invest over time, preferably 5 years or more. Anything else is akin to gambling. Sure, the media likes to profile the winner like they do with the lottery, but most people lose at the individual stock game. Fun to do and speculate, like

If it’s a shitty dealer. I think back to the stone age when I was looking at a Subaru Justy GL ECVT. They had a well deserved reputation for having serious issues with the CVT transmission. I wanted a cheap car and was willing to roll the dice. I found this particular car and told the salescreature that I was fully
