I’m not going to buy a Tesla any time in the foreseeable future, but I bet the number of consumers who avoid Tesla specifically because of Elon is pretty small. (I think the Jalopnik population is massively skewed this way, though.)

Have you even seen the Icon stuff from Harbor Freight? It’s fantastic. Also, the people that speak out the loudest against Harbor Freight are usually the ones with the least experience with them or do little to no research before making a purchase. Yes, plenty of Harbor Freight stuff is shit, but plenty of it is

I have a problem with the TSA’s existence, the unconstitutional No-fly list, and the 45 minute long security check lines. All of them.   It’s time to kill all of these things, not prolong them into the future.

Sadly unaddressed sexual assaults occur wherever humans are. If you ban cruises you’d need to ban all vacation spots(and schools, work, churches, etc.).

Oh FFS I've never been on a cruise but banning them is a bit much. Some people will instinctively hate anything that gives someone else pleasure.

This is the natural evolution of our society’s constant demonization of drinking and driving. We treat it as an ever-present evil that must be snuffed out at all costs, rather a poor decision that a few people make.

I’ve never understood the appeal of these things. They’re creepy. I acquired one as a freebie from a video game convention once and it took me years to get rid of it.

do you really think that the company selling cringe PVC garbage cares an ounce for the environment? Like, for real?

lol you guys are a cult

We bought our first new car when I was 43 years old, for my wife. She’s had two more new cars since then. I bought my first and only new car for myself in 2012 at age 57 and am still driving it. I did a lot of wrenching on always-used cars when younger, so that further reduced costs. We all make our own financial

Find a new car under the average.... Right now the only new cars significnatly under 20k are the base Kia Rio, base Hyundai Accent and base Nissan Versa.”

Fifty years plus in the workforce never saw yearly raises (what is a bonus?), had to change jobs for better pay, bennies etc and that came with a move that cost. Stop believing the most recent gens are the only screwed ones. It’s been going on since forever.

NOBODY is holding these people hostage and making them sign car loan papers.

lol as if used car market hasn’t been crazy in the last two+ years. You’re just an old man yelling at the cloud

Used cars are also, of course, more expensive now than they ever have been. But I still think you’re right. It’s still possible to buy a good, cheap, used car if you need a car.  At least in my local market.

Yeah, it is almost like wage growth has stagnated and the guarantee of a yearly raise and bonus that boomers grew up with dried up after their 40 years in the workforce.

Some do, but it’s far from universal.

tbh, it might not really be a zoomer thing. if you’re young and making shitty money and the average price of a new car is like $40K, then there you go.

Fords been "fixing" quality my entire life.

I’ll have none of that nuanced discussion here,... You have two sides to choose from:
