Man I’d like to get my hands on a first gen Insight.  Toss the hybrid and install a K or even an L engine from a Fit and you’d have a pretty sprightly rust-proof car. At 2000 lbs or so,  it could be decently quick without much power.

As much as I liked the Element, it was a sales failure for Honda. In their best year, they sold as many Elements as they sell CRV’s in 2 months. It was down hill from the best year too (‘03).

They don’t think they’re the future yet. Which they aren’t.   I suspect Honda could easily wait another 5 years and still not be too late to the party.

It was announced Monday, an all-electric SUV that will be years late to the North American market and well after cars like the Tesla Model Y, the Chevy Bolt EUV, and the Volkswagen ID.4.

It almost makes it pointless to post here anymore.  I’ll get numerous replies and have no way to find the original thread.

The fact it’s a Ford for one. I inherited my moms ‘99 crown vic with a stack of maintenance records that could choke a donkey. It had been well taken car off over the years. It still felt old and worn out in a way a Japanese car with the same miles wouldn’t have.

I’m with you. This is a sad way to seek respect.  I respect people for what they do, not what they drive.  I’d certainly respect him more if he bought some clapped out POS then fixed it into the car of his dreams. Just opening the wallet and buying something isn’t worthy of any respect.

I wouldn’t be caught dead in one but I think this would be perfect for the shallow person looking for “respect”...

It’s not really gray. If you want to pull someone over for drunk driving, do it before they reach home. Once they reach home and aren’t driving anymore. It’s a different animal.  There was no chase. The cop simply followed him.

I’d argue that the problems with German cars is more the quality of the parts than the engineering. Like using the wrong cheap plastic for timing chain guides or the wrong glue to hold the interior together. I’ve owned numerous German cars (though I prefer Japanese) and the one thing that stood out was how chintzy

Hence most manufacturers do not make airbags easily accessible for casual home mechanics.

It was illegal from the get go.  The two prior courts simply got it wrong.

Just watched a YT video last night about a 20 year old arrested for public intoxication while walking at night. Cop claimed he smelled booze. Another cop came who had his body cam on. When the two talked together they both said they didn’t smell anything.

If they just had dealerships, they could fix this before the customer see’s it.

Google clutch replacement costs for a primer.

The NSX engine had titanium rods and was DOHC. It was different than any other Honda V6 at the time. Even today, all the V6's are SOHC except maybe in the new NSX.

Also, why do people put “My loss is your gain” so often? Surely it can’t be helpful.

It’s not a very attractive car. It just feels like “kit car”. I can’t really judge the price. I wouldn’t pay $60K for it. An automatic sports car isn’t really a sports car. It’s just a boulevard cruiser.

Yeah. Normal braking you wouldn’t notice it much. Hard braking, you’ll be in the weeds in no time.

Sure me too but I have money and tools. We can’t assume most people have either one. They still have to get to work every day one way or the other.
