99.9% of them are honest, helping hands doing their job, putting their lives on the line to protect others.
It’s like a reliable a BMW. It happens but it’s pretty rare. If it wasn’t for the bystander video it would have just been another medical emergency and unfortunate death instead of a murder. Even in cases where there’s video evidence, it’s not uncommon that the DA refuses to indict.
Sure, we just disagree on the severity of the problem.
“as long as there is literally 1 corrupt or dogshit cop, they’re all bad.”
There are no good cops that aren’t rookies.
it’s very far from perfect or even “acceptable”, but “out of control” is an exaggeration.
a lot of those injuries are from people struggling and thrashing, but even people literally passed out from booze or meth would come in with torn up wrists and hands turning purple
Back at you, most interactions with the police aren’t filmed. If the ones that are filmed are this bad, what about the ones nobody sees?
As I understand it, Qualified immunity is for when a cop violates someone’s rights but had a good faith assumption he wasn’t. Say there wasn’t solid precedent. This on the other hand is pretty clearly attempted murder or man slaughter. It’s not a matter of rights.
Cameras are just the worst thing that’s happened for cops. Youtube is just chock filled with video of cops doing bad things. It really makes you question the whole “bad apples” idea.
I’d pay for that too. The start/stop in my RDX is the #1 annoyance in the car.
For my purposes, local trips, a Leaf would be a fine choice. A 50 mile range would be more than enough. For a general purpose EV, I’d need at least 200 mile range. The only used EV’s with decent resale value are Teslas. That has more to do with the cult of Elon that it does battery life.
If someone pays the $7,500 I’m asking for this little machine, then I’ll probably forget all about this unfortunate incident.
Just something about this whole thing makes me skeptical. I just can’t believe you can buy something like this for less than the cost of a Honda Fit. Maybe it’s like the $35K Tesla. An aspirational price but not one anyone will ever really pay. “You can get one for as little as $20K but we don’t actually make the…
If you don’t defend the nitwits, you’ll find your version of the hobby will be on the chopping block next. My take is there aren’t enough nitwits out there to really matter. All the coal rollers and “squatters“ in the whole country don’t pollute as much as a single plane flight.
It’s sort of like “Fight Club” when the big reveal happens that Ed Norton isn’t some fighter with a cool partner but in fact has been punching himself in the face.
My problem with teleportation is that they’re basically killing you then reconstituting you on the other side. The “you” coming out isn’t the same you that got disintegrated.
It’s clearly a safety issue.
One more silly law added to the 4000-5000 laws out there that already apply to us which, none of us know. We can’t know when we violate them because there’s too many to keep track of. This is another law that will be selectively enforced against people the cops or the politicians don’t like.
