So what you’re telling me is the entirety of the US population reads Kotaku?! WOW!

Yes. 117,000 people came down here to read you.

Over 117,000 people have read this article. Clearly someone finds it interesting.

Seriously, no sarcasm or snark here - I gave an example of a person in a bad situation who, legally in many places and ethically in the mind of a person with empathy, was raped. You victim blamed and said that person “never said no” so it wouldn’t be criminal. I give plenty of reasoned examples of situations that are

Civilly ignoring the other person in the conversation and what they’re saying....isn’t civil.

If you care to go back and actually read the comment you’re responding to, I was very careful both to use gender-neutral words (“people” and “rapist”) and change the genders in my examples (only keeping male and female in references to my initial example), so I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make by pulling a

“She didn’t want it but it wasn’t non-consensual”

I think the issue that we’re bumping up against now is trying to craft the law to fit something we know is wrong - say Harry wants Sally, knows that Sally would never in a million years sleep with him, has no interest. He also knows that she loses control a bit while drunk, so he invites her over, pushes alcohol on

It’s not a matter of “was she passed out or not”, no one is asking that. In many states and personally to many people, it is rape if the victim is drunk and the aggressor is taking advantage of that.

Yes, but I never said I thought you weren’t wrong so me disagreeing with you doesn’t contradict anything else I’m saying.

O...k. So why are you arguing with me then?

. Nor is there any part of the video where he “dominates” her

Please quote to me when I used either of those words. For someone who’s claiming I’m reading into things, you’re sure reading into me saying she’s “uncomfortable” so you can claim you’re right.

Did you read the lyrics? They’re actually thoughtful and about how Miley’s guy is treating her like a baby/child and how she’s uncomfortable with how he dominates what she wants.

I keep having to check myself for menstruation references....for some reason this topic is particularly hard to avoid them LOL

See, I think this is where the disconnect for me is happening - I choose not to use punctuation in every instance because I care about what I’m trying to communicate and want to communicate it in the exact tone that I mean it in. Because to me a period reads as very serious, I reserve it for very serious situations.

I agree, there is bad usage of grammar, vocabulary, and spelling that aren’t meant to convey a tone, but simply because the person is lazy or doesn’t care or isn’t as educated. They do grate on me, try though I might to just let it go. Maybe I’m becoming an Old?

This article is not about “making an effort”, this article is about the choice to put a period on the end of a sentence as opposed to an exclamation point or nothing at all. This is the context we’re talking about - the tone of punctuation in text communication.

Your personal attacks have earned you a dismissal. Better luck next time!
