I wonder if it's the fault of the same guy who's been taking down those Shining Force videos... Did AVGN ever review any Sega titles poorly?

It... Actually looks really bad. I'm sad to see that they're doing absolutely nothing to change the core franchise.

More that I'm bemoaning the loss of all other forms of animations with the advent of 3D, which is easily the ugliest of them all.

3D animation looks like shit. There's no ways around it. It looks deliberately fake and lacks the charm of other animation methods.

Time for my daily grunt rant...

You rang?

I still have my Gamecube and PS2 hooked up. And my N64. And I regularly play PS1 games on my PS3.

You: +

Ahh. But see, if the version you take isn't the version on DVD, you're not stealing anything - just infinitely reproduceable data.

Yet another list that completely ignores Tribes: Ascend. >:

If it's only on a iDevice, it's a casual game. iDevices are not game consoles, they're fluffy little fashion accessories for spoiled yuppies.

This War Z story only gets funnier. I didn't know this until I was watching the Lazy Game Reviewer December Warp-Up, but War Z is actually made by the same people that made Big Rigs... XD

No, mandatory level grinding is the worst possible thing a game can have. It's cool if you want to allow the OPTION of unlocking better skills, but too many RPGs require you to stop progressing through the story so that you fight an endless number of random battles just to beat a boss. It's never fun. Ever. And people

I still don't understand why the Angry birds franchise caught on like it did. The game itself is boring, but see see Angry Birds merchandise everywhere. It's like Pokemon, but not nearly as cool.

Their bosses are probably demanding that they cover casual games to attract more traffic to the site. I doubt Kotaku's writers would disagree with me.

What about games like Deus Ex HR? Or Just Cause 2? Hell, what about The World Ends With You? Those are some of the best, most-loved games this gen. Like I said - SE is doing a lot wrong, but they're getting a lot right too.

Stopped making JRPGs, yeah, but they've still put out a handful of great games. I think the company's diversifying more than anything... I think it'll hand the reigns of RPG god to companies like Atlus and Xseed, but that's perfectly fine with me.

I'd go with EA and Activision. Square's Eidos division has been doing some amazing work, and its traditional RPG business, while not as good as it was in the 90's, still has its niche. I'm very neutral on S-E.

Crapcom is still one of the 3 worst publishers of this generation.

Fahey had a difficult time choosing between this and the My Little Pony iPhone game.
