Maybe she thinks you’re putting it in the wrong damn cabinet. I’m sincerely glad that my SO doesn’t cook because I have a feeling our organization styles would not be compatible.

Are you still friends or did the second breakup blow up the friendship?

In the books, Eliot’s face was deformed some kind of way.

“A Life In The Day” is my favorite episode of The Magicians.

I don’t disagree with you. I don’t think she’s the best person to be reviewing this show but I don’t think changing reviewers would make a difference for the AV Club. Outlander is popular, but it is not cool or hip. Its primary audience is, as far I can tell, mostly comprised of middle-aged women. I think the whole

Sorry about that- Kinja was being weird for me and not showing all the posts. I only posted what I did twice because I couldn’t find the original one. I also missed a post of your yesterday that I don’t necessarily disagree with.

No one said you couldn’t. But you specifically advised the reviewer to read the books so that her reviews would be better informed.  If the show is requiring people to read the books in order to understand it, the show is doing something wrong, not the reviewer.

That’s fine. But you specifically advised her to read the books. Which shouldn’t be necessary.  Look, sometimes these reviews make me crazy when she gets facts wrong and misses the point.  The solution to that isn’t reading the books, it’s paying more attention to the show.

I had that same thought about her hospital outfit and I went and looked it up. They are similar but not as similar as they seemed in my head, if that makes sense. But I’m pretty sure we were supposed to be reminded of it.

The coincidence issue gets worse before it gets better.  Wait, it never gets better in the books.  I’m hopeful that the show can do something about it.

I’m not a mom but I am a woman of a certain age and I liked it. I mean, it wasn’t perfect and it was basically a soap opera but it had compelling characters and costumes and scenery to die for.

No one should have to read the books to understand what’s happening on the show.  If that is the case, that’s on the showrunners and not the viewer.

Don’t forget the murder of Betty, the slave and the subsequent midnight autopsy during which they’re interrupted by Stephen Bonnet.

In the book, it was more of just a kiss and less of a sexual assault.  There was more build-up to it, as well.  Wylie honestly thought that Claire was flirting with him and expected his kiss to be welcome.  He’s more of an idiot than an actual rapist.  Naturally, though, the show had to make it worse.  The show makes

I have an equally useless devilled egg tray.  It’s only adequate when I’m only making them for myself.

The restaurant’s reputation can take a hit if the menu on the app is not correct.  I don’t order on those apps unless it’s clear that the restaurant has some history with the app.

Feminism means that the woman gets to make her own life choices and the rest of us can fuck right off if we don’t approve of it.

I generally skip this bit of the book because it’s so disturbing. To be honest, I didn’t enjoy watching it, either. However, looking back it was really well done and the changes from the book are mostly good ones.

One of the things the producers said in the after show is that this season they tried to highlight a number of things that used to exist and don’t any longer. Like those pigeons.  None of us has ever seen anything like that, though it was common two hundred years ago or so.

Why would Claire know that the ghost was Jamie? I’d be surprised if she even remembered it.
