On the Good Eats episode dedicated to lobster, Alton Brown makes the point that lobsters are not that far away from roaches on the tree of life. He wasn’t trying to gross people out - he was trying to get his audience to feel better about boiling them alive.

As I’ve already stated several times in this comment thread, I grew up in New Orleans and I never ate a crawfish like that. I have no idea why, but it’s not something that my parents did. It just seemed like everyone I knew did shrimp boils instead.

I work in Portland. Despite that (or maybe because (I’ve always thought Stumptown coffee was overrated)) our office coffee is terrible. So I have a french press and I order French Market Coffee & Chicory from Amazon and that’s what I drink at work.

True story: I grew up in NOLA and when I was about 19ish we went to Florida for a few days. We were leaving a bar and I wasn’t finished with my drink so I asked for a go cup. The bartender was like, “Oh, you must be from New Orleans. Yeah, we don’t do that here.” Such a bummer.

Every freaking thing you get in New Orleans is better than that same thing anywhere else. There are amazing po-boy’s and delicious fish and a whole Vietnamese-Cajun-Creole fusion thing happening.

Which one? Veggie Magic or one of the others?

My first memory of seeing Anthony Bourdain on TV was the time he was fed iguana tacos in Mexico.  For whatever reason, the man who made the tacos killed his pet iguana so he’d have something to feed the teevee dude.

Seems like #4 weakens your argument in #3.

It always amazes me what people will admit to on the internet.

It would never occur to me to offer the last bite of my food to other people at the table.  Not even my SO.  Is that a normal thing that happens and I’ve somehow managed to miss it up to now?

Are they still married? I know that they never consummated their marriage but what does that mean legally in Westeros?

Is that a Lego person behind him? Because that looks like a Lego person hand.

I put that down to a certain amount of blindness due to his feelings for Catelyn.  I think his emotions got in the way of his usual cold calculations.

If the show believes that Dany is evil, they need to do a better job.

I used to believe that they’re setting her up to go nuts like her father. He wasn’t always a burner-of-people-alive - he lost his sanity over time. She’s had a couple of instances where she was needlessly cruel (although it’s quite likely I’m thinking of things that happened in the books, not the show.)

They would have to keep the horses fed at the wall, which I would expect to be a challenge.  Hell, I don’t even see how they keep all the people there fed.

My assumption was that the gloves are disposable so no one touches them.
