No fucking shit! I worked in Walker for years! I also used to regularly haunt the Bdub’s on Alpine. Small worlds indeed!

No way, you’re in Michigan too! If you’re ever in the Grand Rapids area, I’ll buy you a beer.

I think you did for one of my posts the other day, and I appreciate it.

This is how it starts. The only question now is how it ends. Now that Trump can effectively be stymied, the press no longer need to treat him with kid gloves like they have. And as we have seen, he cannot fucking handle it.

I mean with dead people having voted before, it seems only fair that the dead should also get to win elections too. /s

I thought that for this election their ranked choice voting would only count for Federal offices because something in their state constitution basically mandated first past the post?

Nick, I’m curious why you didn’t mention Michigan electing Democrats over Republicans for the Governor, Attorney General and Secretary of State, as well as passing 3 major ballot proposals. True the shape of our legislature didn’t really change, but having to deal with a Democrat Executive branch should hopefully

Regarding marijuana legalization in Michigan, Governor-elect Whitmer has said that she is considering whether or not to issue pardons to those convicted of marijuana crimes. So while not a sure thing and not required by the new law, there’s still a possibility that pardons will happen.

Calling it now, this is the first step to legal weed Federally. Sessions is such an anti-weed guy that there’s no way he’d go along with it, so he had to go.

Umm, her opponent was a Republican. I’d lay odds that he’s probably as much or more pro-Second Amendment than Heitkamp. That was not a race the NRA would have needed to spend money regardless.

Morally? Of course. Pragmatically? I think you could make an argument that if there was reason to believe she’d have held onto her Senate seat if she had, she probably should have voted to confirm him.

Well when you lead the glorious revolution to victory it won’t matter anyway, right?

Guess you better start the revolution then if democracy doesn’t work. I look forward to seeing you storm the barricades and liberate the Bastille.

I’m moderately surprised they seem to have pulled it off, but despite my not having much common ground with Democrats or Progressives, I welcome the check on the president’s and Republican’s worst impulses.

Cruz isn’t evil. He’s amoral. Arguably, that’s worse as it makes him more unpredictable. Ted Cruz will do what’s best for Ted Cruz.

One of the questions that will be asked after this election is whether Heitkamp’s token opposition to Kavanaugh’s confirmation was worth losing her Senate seat, especially given Joe Manchin held on to his. Perhaps she would have lost regardless being a Red State Democrat, and if Republicans hold or flip enough seats

What’s surprising is that the Democrats are holding so close. Do people really think that Florida is super liberal?

Is anyone talking about how right now in Michigan John James is leading Debbie Stabenow by almost 3 percent? Beto might beat Tet Cruz, but if James upsets Stabenow it’s a wash.

It’s what I imagine it would be like to fly first class and then have to fly coach again.

Yeah, that has always bugged me, especially when they do it and it turns out to be wrong. In 2016 initial returns made it seem like Hillary had the election in the bag, and then as the night went on you could see the color drain out of everyone’s faces as Trump racked up more and more electoral votes and Hillary’s
