I’ve seen a few comments on other Pen15 AVClub articles where people who haven’t seen the show say the premise of adults playing teenagers against actual teenagers is sick, full stop. I can see how it’s offputting, but the show deserves heaps of praise for threading the needle.
I was honestly a little baffled by how bittersweet Broad City got in its last season or two. Seeing Abbi and Ilana fight was genuinely upsetting.
We need to summon Vendy Wiccany to use her magic for more episodes.
I’m bummed, but I respect it. This was a great ‘besties’ show, and real salve after Broad City ended. Not sure where I’ll find my next one
Persian Zoroastrians who fled persecution, IIRC.
When did you first play OoT? Many other games have surpassed its mechanics in the 23 years (I feel old) since it came out, so it can feel clunky today, but it’s the game that invented targeting an enemy to focus the camera. Even without that feature, it had one of the best camera implementations ever at the time. No…
I don't know what they're trying to say either, but anyway: Freddie Mercury was born in Tanzania (Zanzibar at the time) to Parsi parents; Parsis are an ethnoreligious group in India whose ancestors migrated from what is now known as Iran.
They were Parsi, an ethnoreligious group based in India but originally of Persian descent.
If May thinks that Freddie wasn’t “white as such,” he should probably read up on what White people were doing in Africa to begin with.
And no one cared about Freddie’s sexual orientation? Then why wasn’t it ever publicly disclosed until the very end of his career and life?
Brian May is too smart to be this stupid.
The dude jerked off. Please go find me some pearls to clutch. Real happy that we lost one of the most unique comedic voices for about 15 years; and in exchange we got some stale dick jokes. Totally fair trade.
It’s also similar in that it focuses on fairly normal street-level people in New York. None of the other Disney+ shows have done this yet, but all the Netflix shows did.
I suspect they will make her Madame Masque.
And it’s not like the MCU ever uses comics villains as red-herrings!
This list would have been more fun if it had ranked the movies of Paul Thomas Anderson and Paul W.S. Anderson, just to see where Mortal Kombat and Event Horizon ended up.
If you're going to Diss pizza dog we are going to have a problem
For the most part, it wasn’t a catastrophe. There seems to be this revisionist view of the show that it always sucked, but those first four (or so) seasons were amazingly good. And as much as people want to shit on Benioff and Weiss, they actually made (or at least presided over) some really good changes within the…
That actor playing Dana was wonderful. I was sorry to see her go.
It was a pretty shitty ending, but I don’t envy the writers. They had to fill in the blanks to a series that should have been finished a decade ago, if the author had any decent amount of work ethic. There are things that D&D could have done better, but the last two books (or if we are being honest, two half books)…
No, they just said that Game of Thrones proved fantasy adaptations didn’t HAVE to be a catastrophe. That’s what pissed off so many people: it didn’t HAVE to end on such sour note, but did so anyway.
