Oh man, I read Wool this summer. Rebecca Ferguson is a great choice.
His face is covered in machinery throughout Annihilation, and he mostly doesn’t take his helmet off in the entire series. He gets his implants and helmet removed in Conquest because the technology would compromise him to the Phalanx.
I did not realize that Grillo-Marxuach was a writer. He gets a lifetime pass for Middleman.
While I appreciate their doing that (and restoring Quill’s actual parentage), I would have loved if they had gone with the comic book Starlord background, as it’s pretty fucked up, and results in a nicely fucked up face for quite a while in the comics (until they prettied him up after the first movie)
