From their introductory podcast, it sounds like Jeff and Red Ventures wanted to really branch out (and potentially become less....all white men), and Vinnie, Alex, etc didn’t really want to have to do whatever the corporate paymasters wanted at any given time.

I’m not so sure I see him…

I’d say it almost definitely was. Outside of Rykert who left for what is clearly his dream job, the people who left since Red Ventures announced their purchase are: Abby Russell, Ben Pack, Vinnie, Alex, and Brad. That leaves who? Jan Ochoa, Jeff Gertsmann, and presumably whoever is left at whatever CNET is becoming.
